I'm just mad that when Shereif was around his Burning Man stories were more popular than mine The guy that burned Burning Man was at one of the Woodley events in his same mugshot outfit and paint. The burners were like "fucking bastard" while the ravers were hugging and congratulating him. He was sentenced the following week.
Speaking of which, I love those burners. Their stories outdate mine. I remember when I was a little message board bitcher and some guy posted "I beatmatched my first record in 1988". I replied "You only beat me by a year. I saw Michael Jackson in 1984." The guy replied "I saw The Who in 1977 and started playing a guitar. You weren't even born, bitch." Those were the days.
Then came all the noobs born after 1985.

Ravers are almost never really respected at burner events (especially the big one) if they claim themselves as ravers. thats why id never group associate myself

hahah considering that most ravers dont have the money, stamina, will, determination to even make it to burning man, i dont think that will really be a problem. but yea it would be lame to lump yourself into 1 catagory at an event that celebrates everything

im curious to see how many RLers actually make it out next year. i know everyones gungho about it now, but when it comes time to drop 500-1000 dollars on this event, im pretty sure were gonna see alot of people dropping like flys

on a side note, i bet if they made a pretty flyer with lots of pretty colors on it and djs names listed on it, you would see a shit ton more 'ravers' showing up to party hahahaha. its funny how that works. if theres no flyer then it must not be legit!!!!!! hudson 4 lyfe

Hey Klover.. for it to carry 10-15 people... you might want to just have it run off an engine! Pedal power is fun but will tire the shit out of everybody even with very tall gearing. I've seen some awesome pedal powered vehicles that were pretty large, looked magestic and all, however they were clearly very heavy and only carried 2-5 people usually.

So.. yea.. just a thought.. for transportation, engine = much better, if you run across very loose patches of playa (there was a lot of this), it becomes extremely difficult to pedal and often times we would come to a complete stop and fall off at night if we didn't see what we were riding around haha

I started the preliminary design while bored in my written composition class

I plan on letting my teachers know of a horrible family tragedy several days before the semester begins and that i will be on the east coast that week.

OR, i'll just get a bunch of once a week classes so that i'll only miss one class of each....or some other way. i duhno. at this point i don't care. it'll work out and i won't be missing the whole semester for missing one week of class.

Depends on where it will be the week before BM. I think what I'll do is keep the bottom bed frame up here and work on the wooden structure and decor down in LA. A week before I can uhaul the frame down and get a budget truck and transport it all from LA.

or, if i build it all up here i can Uhaul it for an extremely much cheaper price and keep the truck the whole week.

The structure other then the metal bed-frame will all be easily deconstructed and reconstructed.

there are other possibilities to get it there as well.

I don;t know what bothers me most about that....

that burners don't respect a group of people just because we attend raves
that a percentage of ravers misrepresent us to make us look bad towards others
or that the above two would keep a raver from mentioning that they are a raver.

note...once again we wouldn't be touting ourselves as ravers or a rave group....hell i see RL as more than a rave community now anyways.

We're just....a community at this point. A tribe connected by the raves we meet at but also by so much more.

look at the majority of the threads on here....way more about other topics than raves themselves.

doesn't really matter....this won't represent RAVES or RAVERS...this will represent us, the people who go to BM that know one another through this website. if people wanna judge us for that then it's shame on them, not us.

^^^Klover, I saw a lot of twin bike setups that carried 2-3 people COMFORTABLY, with nice comfy plush benches and decorated well with lights.

If you want to carry 10-15 people the safest and most efficient way to do it is with the smallest vehicle you can find with a chassis, not a unibody. Remember this can be a POS, it only has to go 10mph the whole week. As far as building a platform that can support 10-15 people which can be up to 2500 pounds, that requires a welder and a lot of metal tubing. Then you gotta build the platform around that with a lots of wood, that's safe.

Now if you want to do all that you have to know people. Klover, I will be building a very small art car that I am currently designing. It's just based off a small modified go-kart chassis. It's not going to hold a bunch of people or anything, but if your creative big doesn't mean better. The point I'm trying to make is this is your first year, and there were a lot of small art cars I saw that were much more profound and interesting than a lot of the larger art cars.

But by all means if you have the dedication to build something that can transport 10 people do it, just make sure it's something that's safe and can propel whatever it's carrying efficiently, within your budget.

I was thinking that.....problem is that adds a ton more money to get an engine plus then outfit it to run on an engine. may as well have a car with a flatbed attached right? well that's boring....

for the same cost I'd rather just outfit it with 5 or maybe even 7 sets of pedals.
community effort of pedaling!

I'm not going for bigger to be better....I just wanna be able to roll with bigger groups.

Yes, I know getting a car with the chassis will make it ten times easier...but even a POS in itself will be well over $1k....then the cost of the platform and structure and all that stuff.

keep in mind i have a pretty good resource supply in my hands.

And i do know welders.
This isn't supposed to be an amazing art car....it's a transportation vehicle that will have artful perks.

and you know me.....i have dedication when it finally comes time to starting shit out and i say yes.
