So I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I dont know about the socal scene, but I do know that the norcal scene is deteriorating(excluding skills)and a lot of ravers are becoming old and jaded. Now when I first started raving I did do drugs. However they were simply to enhance the experience which I was currently involved in.
Nowadays it seems as if people NEED drugs to even have fun at a rave. What could argueable be called raves have existed since the early 1980's, in the mid 1990's they changed into something so different and controversial that it turned everyones head and put the entire world in shock. That is why the vibe of the 90's was so good, that is why everyone stuck together as family, because if they didn't, It would fall apart in an instant. Now raves are pretty much accepted by society as nothing new. Hell, less than 10 years ago you could be ARRESTED from just wearing kandie, now it kinda seems normal. I feel that this is the root cause to the deterioration of the rave scene. What I beleive needs to happen is something new, something so out there and crazy(i'm not saying stop raves, just make them something out of this world) that once again the heads will be turned and the world will once again be put into shock. opinions, thoughts, anyone have any imput?? |

i would say late 90's to early 2000 (yes the stupid rave act included)the RAVE scene took a turn for the worse. It has always had it's bad side but was able to be avoided and overlooked if you chose to. However that was then and this is now. The worst part of it has become a fad and sadly it is the young people (meaning teenagers and even pre-teens) are the ones who have made it so. The good and enjoyable part that made RAVES attractive to those who now downsize and stereotype is literally hanging by a thread. The love and appreciation for music and the vibe itself is slowly dying but surely being kept alive by those who still feel it.
Raves are most definately not a thing of the past but some of us remember and sometimes wish certain aspects of it could come back and remain the same. Change and those who come into the scene are major factors as to where we will end up and how RAVES will remain or eventually fade. |

There were always young people at raves man. The vibe has changed, the music is about the same minus good jungle rooms.
Lets just all enjoy the music and dance ^_^ |

raves, imo, will never be a thing of the past
people have been gathering, although the name may change and they'll call it something else, again people have been gathering for eons to come together and dance all kinds for one reason or another, maybe for celebration, maybe for ritual, drugs in some way shape or form have been a part of this for a very long time, maybe not with ALL cultures that gather in this way, but with many....anyways, if you're 100% sober and you're dancing for a long time your brain will release chemicals getting you "high" anyways, many runners experience this same "runner's high" |

Raves are still here, the culture is just shifting. Like all other cultures. This is normal. Change is CONSTANT.

Yes that is partly what I am saying, rave culture will exist for a long time. However the point I am trying to make is that it seems like the raves of today are no more that just weak imitations of the raves from the mid - late 90's.

You ask are raves a thing of the past, and you make a point. It sounds like you answered your own question.

never done drugs
been to parties from 1995 to now. I dont like them or the scene. I hope the scene dies. We need to put energy into underground warehouse parties without glosticks and pills. Trust me these aprties are the best of the best out of everything I've been to. I cant say that about any rave. |

I'm not asking a question, I'm asking for opinions or thoughts.

I dont' think they are a thing of the past. To me they seem to be growing in popularity, and although they have been going downhill, as long as there are still people that want to rave, there will be raves. I don't see the rave scene diminishing for a long time, if ever...
