A question for the old timers?

I just want to know how light toys and the stage lighting has changed over the past fifteen years?

Did they just use glowsticks back then or what?
and was the lighting as amzing as it is now such as EDC?

They just weren't as fancy but were still used in the same way. That is to enhance the effect and express yourself.

Oh and the visuals are just so much better now. Although they were just as effective then. You know the old saying: we get old, we change, but we stay the same.

I want to ask someone who went to the very first EDC,Nocturnal,Monster,Tao. I would want to ask them how they changed specificley. That would be interesting indeed.
Wouldn't it be awesome if they had a full dvd that was taken at all the massives , It would show the sets. lighting, and most of all the crowd.

One thing I *don't* miss was that a lot of crews would way, way overfog their parties. You'd come back and be coughing up black shit for the next couple days...

I'd say the lighting style has changed moreso than the quantity of the lighting itself. There has always been a shitload of lasers and effects going on, though maybe not as advanced (pattern wise) as there are today. One big difference in the style that I can fully acknowledge is that the old massives used to have more "ambient" lighting and fog/transparent/holistic effects than the new age. What I mean by that is that there was more atmosphere in the buildings, giving everything a hazy and retro look, rather than the new age of "sharp, bright, and exact" lasers. These days we are so concerned with precise graphics and lighting that promoters dont really bring out the ambience.

Hope that makes sense.. thats all I really have to add.. overall the lighting technology *at raves* hasn't changed much from around 2000.

not as much anime in visuals as there used to be. they need to drop more tentacular hentai clips in their routines. i feel that visuals are pretty underrated. but, i think that's kind of the point...considering how they finagle their way into your perceptible horizon while the drugs have you open.

man, i went to one house party of his, the "rave room" was like a real mini rave, it was awesome, frickin' lazers and such everywhere, i'll never forget that night, the most raved out house party in all history, lol...
