For me, I was on my way to a rave and while getting gas before hitting the freeway, we ran into an old friend who gave us an upbeats mix cd. And here I am....

the upbeats are so fuckin' sick! let me just clarify that first.
but for me... it was how sweet it is in 2006 i was listening to DJ ZINC, i seriously just stood there in one spot the whole time he was up there selecting just dancing and having a great ol' time. i've never strayed since then....granted, i like electroclash more than drum and bass, and i always have loved electroclash the most, you just never see that at raves, only clubs and in my car... except when felix da housecat plays Monster. |

^^lol...wow that's kind of harsh.
I got into it like in 93 when it was still primarily "hardcore techno breaks". DJ Hype, 2 Bad Mice, Foul Play, really early/old stuff. Now I'm into the really techy sounding stuff. I guess some of my newer influences would be Black Sun Empire and Vector Burn. |

I was into dnb before I was into dnb! It was weird -- I came from a rock and metal background, and I was always into bass guitar and drums. I've always had music in my head, since I was a little kid. Eventually I heard the Dieselboy side of East Coast Science and it opened up the whole world of EDM to me. :-)

Mainly just from a hip-hop vandal to going to a few raves.....My first few fav's were Photek, Freeky Flow, Sub Focus, and definatly watching MCMC perform is what has shaped me into a junglist today!

When I got into the raving scene, I was studying in England and went all over the place to hot clubs to hear famous DJ's spin. My best friend lived in Bristol, where drum n bass originated from, and I went to visit her a couple of times. She took me to all these drum n bass nights, I heard a few wicked DJ's and I was hooked. The DnB scene in Bristol is wicked.
But I find I have to really be in the mood, have enough energy and usually drop to get into DnB and have a hardcore dancing session. ![]() |
