Most of you kids seem to know nothing of jungle its beginnings and what is real and what is new. Jungle did not start off sounding like quasi industrial NIN kind of stuff. The ragga influenced piano breaks whatnot was the starting point. Uk Hardcore may have been around in 89 but jungle was not. Now I am not saying that all of you have no clue but many. I have been to West coast parties, middle america, East coast and overseas. You mean to tell me that those who invented and popularized the genre dont have a clue and the records they are still producing are not true jungle. Who here is going to argue that Roni Size, Grooverider, SS, Shy FX, S Gachet, Randall, Flirt, Darren J, Nicky Blackmarket, Aphrodite, Dillinja etc. are putting out shit tunes that deviate completely from the original formula. It has been in more recent years that stuff like Gein, Evol Intent, Breakage, and all of that Freak recording Dylan crap has come to the forefront of jungle. I mean sure back when you had Tech Itch killing dance floors but the majority of jungle stuck to the jump up ragga formula. Even Dylan up until 6 or 7 years ago was still spinnin heavier jump up.
And then to say that we should be discussing this on Junglescene. Come on. There is some great talent out of Cali and their jungle scene is the best in the states right now by sheer numbers, but many of the kids out there love this industrial strength kill your mother fuck your cat pots and pans jungle. Not my thing and it is for the kids IMO. On top of which they big up some of the whackest MCs on the block on that site. I read a rhyme on there recently that was such bollocks and everyone was like that is awesome this and that. Fact of the matter is you cant be a junglist and not be a Junglist Raver. The two go hand in hand.
As per the title of this thread come on. I was at EDC last weekend and you mean to tell me that Marky and Zinc and Marcus Intalex is not real jungle. I mean shit Marky is one of the biggest names in Jungle for the last bunch of years and ZINC is the fucking man. He killed it the other night. And Silver the man never fails. On top of which you are going to tell me that Andy C, Jumpin Jack Frost, Craze, Total Science, Simon Bassline Smith, Ed Rush and Optical, Brockie, Shimon, and Red one and all the others who have come through your area recently are shit. That covers all sub genres and the original Dons of jungle.

To answer the question I am a raver a Junglist raver at that being that I only listen to jungle. Yes we still listen to real jungle. Shit we got JJ Frost, Nookie, Brockie and MC Det, Shy FX, Mc Tali, and A-sides among others coming through NY over the next couple of months. Seems like kids are looking to put it down, but fact of the matter is ravers do listen to real jungle, many of the younger ones just havent been schooled yet. And to say stuff coming out of the UK is shit, is like saying that Detroit has the worst techno in the world or Chicago produces the worst house. Crazy talk. I love MC shitty and that dj who just spins sounds that are completely monotone for an hour. Man, jungle needs the revival. Most original shit was very clownsteppy/video gamish. Shit we are ravers for a reason. We need mo fire. And the whole I hate MCs did anyone see dynamite perfection.
