This might actually be a stupid question but i'm not too savy with psy-stuff I just love the way it sounds ^^. Anyways question is can you like trip out or get hypnotized or something without the aid of drugs by listening to the right Psy, Goa or trance stuff? (and if so is it harmful?) Always wondered that. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The thing I love about psytrance is that you can get lost in your own head or you can dance your ass off. The music is designed for this. It is possible to find yourself lost in psytrance music much like you can in any other music. Under the right elements, it's almost hypnotic, indeed.
The music itself is VERY COMPLEX and involved. Not to sound condescending, but most CAN'T understand it without being on some sort of mental enhancement. That's not to say that it can't be enjoyed without it. Personally, I love the complexity of the production and the involvement the music has. It's psychedelic nature is something that is truly missing in much of modern EDM. So, to answer your question. Yes it's possible to become "entranced" with the music if you open yourself to it. Enjoy artists like Quadra, Astrix, Younger Brother, and Cosmosis both in natural and unatural states. Listen to dj's like Michael Liu, Spyros, and *ahem-shameless plug* myself who play the music and love it naturally. You'll find yourself into a whole new world of trance that you never thought existed. |

Wow that was a very awesome response ^_^. Too bad I don't do any of that stuffs though, don't plan to anytime soon, but maybe one day i'll be able to experience trance in those other 'verses and i'll sit back the next day and say "That was amazing" |

The stuff i have been "hypnotized" by when I am sober is usually the more laid back psy stuff like Shpongle and Shulman. A couple years ago about basically every night for half a year i would lay in complete darkness and listen to "Are You Shpongled" or "Mystical Experiences" by the Infinity Project before bed (Good luck finding the latter). I definitely travelled some places with that and Shulman "In Search of a Meaningful Moment" is another awesome record. Both i recommend having headphones on.
I usually listen to the harder psytrance like 1200 Mics, Quadra, Hallucinogen when I am wide awake and feed off the energy. I can't say that i have ever really fell into a trance listening to harder psytrance but it's definitely evoked emotions and sometimes the sounds feel like they almost hit you from nowhere. Lastly I will say that while i thorougly enjoy the music sober, the synergy created between psy music and hallucinogens is unbelievable and together it is something better than either separate. |
