shit from the 90's was fuckin tight. fuckin BT & Chicane were the best dj's in the 90's. and the 90's had more epic trance and trance anthems. today's trance is just as good. but i like the old stuff better.

also the sounds from the 90's were raw and original because there was nothing to compare it to. acts like storm and mauro picotto (although not true trance) were so original and inovative. the sounds of today are too "clean" and clinical. tunes from the 90's had that raw home-made feel. alot of hard work goes into programming analog equipment so more often than not the tracks produced had a love for their work about them, only the best would do. now, anybody can throw together a track and get it released, whatever the quality of the song. the exclusivity has been lost to deadlines and profits. but! there are some great tracks out there at the moment, mostly from smaller labels........who look for quality to get a reputation so in the whole i think the 90's shade it. phew! |

I wouldnt say any generation of trance is 'better' than another.....its simply different.
late 90s trance was very simple, bouncy, always had a fun feel to it with a catchy melody you could get stuck in you rhead all day. todays trance is alot more fuzzy & fluffy, and has more layers to it. Melodies arent as recognizable as fast, and sometimes buildups take much longer. Even now with the whole progressive trance style growing, trance has gotten slower, less energetic, and is just chillout music rather than something you can go insane to. To me it feels like people thought 90s trance was too cheezy, so then the new generation came which was basically more like classical music with a drumbeat. Many trance producers fear being called cheezy, which is mostly (but not limited to) vocal tracks and catchy happy melodies. Theres 'epic trance that makes you wanna cry' which gets called sissy. Cheezy vocal trance which is mainstream & overplayed that any newb has played 1000 times on their computer. or progressive trance, which just makes you wanna groove, but is alot more slow & boring, not as exciting or energetic. Tech Trance, which is like the new generation of hardtrance. Alot more harsh on the ears and unpredictable, but still has a unique energy to it. Its understandable people just have different tastes. Many people who grew up on 90s trance want to stick with what they were introduced to electronic music with, and arent as open minded to the newer stuff. Trance has really branched out and subdivided over the years, and it really cant just all be called 'trance' anymore. Maybe im just picky. |

It really depends on the kind of sound your into. Me for instance, I like to listen to a lot of simple beats, nothing too crazy. My favorite artist is Nathan Profitt. Hes still kind of underground, but he has a shit load of potential. Check his music out. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I really loved the vibe and environment better in the 90's.
The early-mid 90's also held something special and that was new raver kids we're educated on "how to party" by their friends who brought them, and it was the person who brought the "newbie raver" to take responsibility for them when they do something stupid (like sitting in a puddle on the dancefloor like retards) If you are going to become a puddle PLEASE do us ALL a favor and do it on the freeway... Dancefloors are for dancing!!! not for 13 year old e tards. ![]() ![]() |
