Of all the styles of EDM drum and bass is one of my least favorite. At least live. On CD you can actually hear things other than the bass but too often at raves the bass downs out everything else. It gives me a massive headache and makes dancing to it that much harder. Trance, house, breaks, and jungle (including ragga) are my favorite types because the beat to dance to them is easier to find. Plus they flow better which allows me to toss belly dancing into it.

If Trance wasn't "Rave" music they wouldn't have Trance in the main room of a Massive

I've never been to big of a fan of trance. I could never understand why anyone would put a breakdown every couple of bars or so, its annoying. I remember once being at a party and someone was playing it, I would start dancing then all of a sudden a breakdown would come in for like a minute or so then it would pick up then right as it should have taken off another breakdown, so on and so forth. I like music that has a groove to it, and in some instances some soul. Trance is to mechanical, its like synthetic emotions put onto vinyl, as apposed to house or techno that you can truly feel the emotion being conveyed (not in all cases though). Trance always seems like its the starting ground for a lot of people just getting into the rave scene. They seem to like it because it sounds good when they are rolling.
Example:

This ^^^ made me laugh. Come on people this isn't all about drugs. Shit any music would/will sound good on drugs. But when you take away the drugs are you really truly feeling what the artist is trying to do musically?

I totally respect the fact that some people like trance, and that is totally cool. I just wanted to state the reason why I do not like it and the reasons why I dont. If anyone wants to argue about any of these claims (which i love to do) my aim is EyliusEvilHatesU .

-Alex

p.s. not all trance is bad, give me some dark hard trance any fucking day and I'll be fine. Just not the typical dutch supersaw stadium bullshit.

my friend, sounds like youve heard too much Mtv styled stuff. look into Goa trance, it has an organic based, Indian sound in it and can feel real good.

I've listened to goa and psy many times before, I've been to a lot of goa and psy partys also, its good shit.

I'm refering more to the popular trance shit, not like mtv poppy im talking about 3 minuet long breakdowns blah blah blah.

hahahahaaha, why people think it isnt proper, is cause there not being exposed to it these days, all the promoters are booking jungle and shit, so people are lead to believe that its what they should listen to

but really all the biggest parties in the world and best vibes are all trance parties

everyone has their own style of music they love. weather you like the style or not it all has its time and place. and if you are listing to a dj thats just mixing tail ends of trance songs of course it is going to be boring. try listening to a dj that has great mixing skills and knows what the hell they are doing. it makes a big difference!!
