This member is the original thread starter. Default trance becoming too commercial?

what do you think? Paul van Dyk , Tiesto , Oakenfold, etc. expanding the trance community? or killing the culture with the radio-played tracks?

its been commercial since the late 90's

You want to listen to non-commercial trance then start looking back to the early 90's. Shit like Bypass Unit. Good stuff.

I don't think they're killing the culture, but sold out as good musicians. They've gone rich and famous that they "rarely" put an effort to make good music anymore. They're so talented, but w/the amount of money they're making they have peepz who produces most of their tracks. Like ATB he is banking on the same ol shit over and over, nothing has changed. He adds a few tracks to his old listing of tracks and he calls it a new album.

I will always think OAKENFOLD as one of the for fathers of Trance music, but like many big artist, bands, producers, singers, most of them sold out.

For Real B.

If you want some good tech trance from the 90's look at Harthouse, R&S, Apollo

Today the trance is marketed and homogenized for the youth of today.....

To a certian extent it's inevitable, the more people who get into dance music and raving the more money is in it. If theres money to be made it's only human nature that someone will exploit it. Hence commcercial raves/dance was born.

I totally agree. I mean, all forms of EDM sound somewhat commercial to me sometimes. Its not just trance, but trance is what gets all the blame, and usually, from the way most people on this forum act, for good reason.

Try downloading some Vapourspace. They have some good old school Trance, (early to mid 90's).

And just like mentioned prior to my post, every type of underground music is bound to become commercial, whether it be Trance, DnB, Punk, Hip-Hip, etc. But as long as there are people that stay true to underground music, there will always be a balance.

BTW, there still are some good new trance tracks out there(goa/psy), you just have to dig. I go trough the same thing being a DnB dj.

My two pennies......

Nah, Trance is doing what most all other electronic genres do, going in and out in waves, Trance is coming back in, so be it, honestly, I love trance to much for it to get ruined for me, lol
