I dont know if you guys have heard this before but its funny
Pacman, a guy who runs around a dark room, listening to weird electronic music and eating strange pills. Haha... thought it was the ultimate game, what a coincidence. |

Psy-trance/goa is the only good rave music there is. and yes in the last years it has become very popular in the US. there is nothing like going to a psytrance party. its not like going to a regular rave with house and progressive trance....different scene. listen to some of the older tracks and you'll see that alot of it is darker.

Here in the US psytrance is hugely on the rise. The Midwest has a great scene and also on the West Coast. Psytrance is NOT rave music although does get played at raves on occasion. Psytrance is Psytrance. And the events, even with less attendance, blow away any and all raves I've been to. (although I will play a rave to spread the music and share what everybody there seems to wanting and missing)
If your interested, these are only a few of the US psytrance groups that are holding events on a regular basis. Normally there is travel involved but that's part of the fun. ROADTRIP! Oh, and you can probably leave the beads at home (so 1999). There is plenty of eyecandy. Chilluminati.org Eosomnium.com Geomagnetic.tv Mindoutpsyde.com These events are not for the faint at heart but, you will meet some amazing people and hear some amazing music. i was at a "psy" party last night. it was different than a "rave" because it was held at a club and it had a PVC theme. however i was dj'ing some acid trance with my buddy, and the rest of the dj's were psy-ish. but if someone wants to tell you that psy isnt rave music, i would have to disagree. "raves" play electronic music, which psy is. end of story. i go to a club featuring electro house dj's, and there is a different feel than if i go to a drum and bass event. same goes for the psy party last night, its a different crowd than the breaks party happening on the other side of town. throw any of these genres in an event that only plays that type of music, and you will get a different feel. mash them all together and call it a rave, and you will have a rave... |

Boom Shankar Psy-Kick!!!
It's great to get the perspective from across the globe. Especially from somebody who has witnessed it from it's origins. Quote:

A bunch of freaks listening to EDM for hours, dancing, high on various drugs. Sounds like a rave to me. Some people really like to complicate shit that isn't all that complicated. I've heard psytrance at non-psytance parties before, does that rule them out as raves as well? I've heard rock and roll at raves before, still didn't change what it was. The scene is what makes it a rave, not just the music.
