Audio Anarchy - Episode #27

ProgressiveHouse. TechTrance. Trance. PsychedelicTechno.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who tuned in for last month's
episode. It was downloaded 1200+ times making it Audio Anarchy's
biggest month yet!

This month we're going to pay homage to the other side of the dance
music spectrum, with a banging multi-genre 4x4 blend.

Trance music seems to get a lot of flack from listeners of other EDM
scenes but the truth of the matter is that this genre is going through
something of a golden age right now.

Its impact can be felt on neighboring genres. Techno is being forced
to take things to a more polished level. Old trance melodies are
being pillaged to re-invigorate the progressive house scene
and to take the minimal and electro house genres to new heights.

There is also a harder, techy, electro-tinged trance movement these
days that is really pushing the engineering and production envelope in
ways usually only credited to the drum 'n bass scene.

Couple all that with trance's unique ability to convey emotion like no
other form of electronic dance music and what we've got is some real
magic happening right now.

And if you're feelin' this mix, be sure to check out Audio Anarchy
Episode 22 - "Liquid Sunshine" if you haven't already.

As always, I'd love to hear what you think about it...
Cheers!

Notes/Comments:
1. Pryda "Ironman" 0:00
A stomping progressive house groover that features electro-styled bass work.

2. Freakx Brothers "Tension" 9:25
Is it electrohouse? Is it progressive house? Does it matter? Dope.

3. Acquaviva + Zenker "Swimming with Sharks" 11:39
I'm becoming a quick fan of the Blu-Fin label. ProgressiveTechHouse.

4. Eric Prydz vs Floyd "Proper Education" (The Dub) 13:51
Just a short sample of the intro to the first officially licensed remix of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In the Wall."

5. Rachael Starr "Till There Was You" (Gabriel & Dresden Club Mix) 15:40
One of the most addictive progressive house tunes ever written. Check out Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance, episode 193 and be blown away.

6. Super8 & Tab "Suru" (Martin Roth Nu-Style Remix) 23:05
Super clean engineering. Smart drum programming. Proof that progressive house is far from dead.

7. Three Drives "Greece 2000" (Muskat Nuss Mix) 26:03
Tastefully done progressive house rendition of a classic Hooj Choons anthem.

8. Marcel Woods "Lemon Tree" 29:12
To me, this sounds like an Italian tech-trance tune slowed down to a more grooving tempo. Huge distorted synth work. Big room music 2007.

9. Slusnik Luna vs Lowland "Baas" 32:55
Just a snippet of the drums off the intro of this dope trance track to layer with song 8 & 10 to make the mix more dynamic.

10. Phatzoo "Big Bash" (Marco V Skip the Bleeps Edit) 34:22
I heard Mystre drop this track live at 1015 Folsom (SF) last month. Electro influenced techno trance. Awesomely huge.

11. Alex MORPH & Rank 1 "Life Less Ordinary" 36:24
The electro bass riff of this techy trance track has influenced a significant amount of dance records as of late. From beautiful to sick-ass in a blink of an eye.

12. DJ Joao "Falling" 39:46
Hard, almost tribal techno with slick trance-styled production and engineering.

13. David Forbes "Space Funk" 42:49
Tiesto influenced techno trance with very "right now" sounding drum production from Mr. Forbes.

14. Michael Dow "Orbit" 43:45
Peak time uplifting trance with powerful techno styeld drum work.

15. Store N Forward feat. Mil Brooks "4 Seasons in 1 Day" (Sean Tyas Mix) 48:20
Trance's quickly rising remix producer is in top form here with this uplifting trance scorcher. Hard runnin' beat with masterful synth work.

16. The Chemical Brothers "We Are The Night" 54:58
Banging psychedelic techno. The title track to their newest and best flowing album.
