is it worth it?
throwing your own parties cost a lot of money...and starting out people rarely get a profit. but hey, if you feel you could get a good crowd and throw a great party regardless of money issues, than begin planning. Budgeting see how much money you have...and set aside a laaaarge amount cause youll need it. set budgets for venue, DJs, decorations, promoting, etc. Venue do you have a venue? most important thing, besides music. do you have the venue reserved for the night you want it? is it big enough to hold as many people/areas as you wish? is it in a location thats safe/people would go to. DJs - book them for that date. different styles? different areas? also keep in mind depending on the talent the cost to fly them out or pay for some extra stuff. Coming up with a theme - most people do this first thing....but on this list its the next important thing..sorta. pick a theme, promote it, exploit it, decorate for it. a lot of times people go specifically for a theme. prices - how much will you charge? Promoting - Design a flier and get a lot printed, use your friends to help pass them out at other events. or just post them on here and plurspace if its a small party other stuff - hiring security, vendors, food, water... those are the basics, good luck |

We threw a party out here without really planning it...
We threw this giant tent with good sound, good vibes, and good Djs (and a hookah lounge) and it sorta just pulled the crowd from the rave that was currently going on and then we stayed packed the whole night! I know where you are coming from wanting to throw a party. The satisfaction you get the next morning when people come up to you thanking you for such a wonderful time really truly is worth it. I myself am in the same boat looking for a venue to throw a foam party. Me and my friends did so well with organization on this last one we didn't fully plan we are excited to throw an official one we WILL plan! Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for! ![]() |

things that kill a party:
busts shitty sound shitty djs shitty promotion so.... find a solid venue, solid sound, and solid talent then put some hard work in...and don't half ass anything. if you don't have the $$ or need to cut corners...just go to someone else's party. youll get a bad rep from djs and party people from one or two sour events and people devoted to the scene don't forget. try to meet some people that are already doing their thing and try to help them out before putting on your own production. youll learn a few things and meet some key people and find out good places for locations before putting ur name out there. if you're into the scene already you'll probably have an idea about venues in your area. |
