Goa is a type of music that arose in the province of Goa, India. The more universal name for it is Psytance, an abbreviation of Psychadellic Trance.

goa rivals techno is misidentifications. I dl'd this best of goa CD and every song was either psytrance or hard house. Alice Deejay is techno.

psy-trance comes from goa-trance....goa is basically the same thing as psy but using more natural sounds(more natural instruments such as classical guitars, xylaphones, etc)

the sounds may end up morphing into more psy-sounds though, the main key is starting off with natural/organic sounds. thats my understanding of goa vs psy after listening to it for like 14 years

Not much to add here as most of you have explained it pretty well.

Goa is just another form of Psy-Trance like Israeli. Psy is one of the most popular underground genres and it's pretty hard not to like it.

BTW Alice Deejay is not Techno...I hope that was a bad joke. She is or was purely cheesy Euro Trance and can be lumped in with the likes of Scooter, DJ Sammy and Ian Van Dahl.
