don't buy drugs at raves. it's as simple as that. if you're going to use drugs at a rave, get them before and either sneak them in or take them before

This is long but useful I think.

The entrapment defense I have researched and discovered that is an uncommon practice. It seems to be implemented when a law-abiding citizen is coerced into breaking the law based on pressure from law enforcement.

I asked one of the attorneys at my law firm the question regarding undercovers and badges. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 92 and has worked at our law firm, (Nationally Known and Highly Respected) for over 10 years. However, he has practiced areas of Civil Law (mostly intellectual property law and contracts) so his Criminal Law knowledge is a little rusty.

Him and I are about 99.9% sure that an officer MUST carry a badge on him at all times, (if he is on-duty or attempting to enforce the law). This is necessary because if you EVER have doubts about the authenticity of a police officer you can ALWAYS request to see their badge and they are OBLIGATED to show you. I am 100% positive this is the case with uniformed officers and about 99.9% positive this is the case with undercovers.

Also, I want to put a few myths to rest. First, a cop is not required by law to verify if they are an officer if you ask them. Second, an undercover cop is legally allowed to partake in illegal activity. Just because a person is using drugs DOES NOT mean they are not cops or narcs. Be careful when trying to use these identifiers because they will land you a place in jail.

Here in lies the problem. A Narc is not an officer of the law, therefor does not carry a badge. If you ask a NARC to see their badge, they will not have one to show, obviously.

My advice, keep your dealings OUTSIDE of raves and if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to deal or buy inside, understand the risks involved.

Yes, a police officer under cover or not must ALWAYS carry their badge, however if they are off duty they do not have to carry it, but still have the authority to make arrests.

The impression we got after reviewing some of the law books was that even an off-duty officer must be able to present his badge if he is attempting to make an arrest or interfere with any sort of possible illegal activity. The basis for this being necessary is because an off-duty officer can very easily resemble an ordinary citizen and that could pose a potential threat to your wellbeing, your safety, and your freedom.

I am not 100% sure about this, though. I am going to ask some of the other attorneys that work here and see if I can get a consensus.

Actually a lot of narcs are young adults who typically get paid for their services. Back in Virginia the surrounding counties where I lived passed around highschool kids who they paid to bust drug dealers and establishments that sold alcohol to minors. The bigger busts usually use officers in training as narcs since they carry larger consequences. They are sometimes officers in training as well. Informants are usually people who got caught and are working with the police to save themselves.
