The Rave Scene + Needles??

My friend posted this as a bulletin, and I thought I'd post it here.





This weekend at How Sweet, one of my girlfriends was minding her own business and was dancing on the dance floor when she noticed a guy next to her. She didn't think anything of it as he continuted to get closer. Then all of the sudden she felt a prick (like a needle). She exclaimed "OW!", looked down and saw a hand move away. She looked up and saw a guy bailing out. She doesn't have a discription of him, all she knows is that we were on the main dance floor sometime before ATB.

She didn't want to trip out because she thought it might just be her imagination. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel and she took her kandie off that she saw a small round bruise right in the spot she felt the prick. Right in the middle of the bruise was an tiny, tiny red dot. The next morning we felt it and there was a tiny bump on the bruise and when she showered that night she felt it a scab over the dot.

The fact that this is happening is entirely UNACCEPTABLE. Whoever would do something like this is inhuman. I spoke with Velocity last night for about an hour regarding this whole thing and he opened my eyes to the whole subject. I've heard stories of people spreading HIV this way, but I always thought they were rumors.

If people really are going around pricking people with needles (HIV infected or not) we need to be careful. I'm not saying this to scare any of you, I'm trying to warn everyone to be cautious. I know for myself this kind of thing doesn't even cross my mind when I'm at parties. Call me naive, but I honestly don't think of this kind of stuff happening. We never think this is going to happen to us, but I don't want ANYONE to become a victim to anything like this.

So everyone please be careful. Take a look around at your surroundings. Look at the people next to you so in case anything like this DOES happen, maybe we can catch these people in action and stop this. Try not to stay in one spot for too long. Float around so people don't watch you or follow you.

If anyone else was pricked or knows anything else about this PLEASE let me or Velocity know. This needs to stop. Please also spread the word around to make our fellow ravers aware. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else.

That made me sick to my stomach, and although it wasn't your intent, terrified. That someone would do something like that... I can't even comprehend.

Has your friend gone to the doctor to talk about this issue yet? Please keep us up to date...

Update: I remember hearing about this happening several years ago (the whole HIV part) so I decided to do some digging around, and it looks like the HIV part is an urban legend.

She/he should definatly still see a doctor, but I don't think it's anything more than someone trying to scare the living shit out of people. Definatly wise to keep your eyes open, and move around a lot though.

Even if it was someone trying to scare the living shit out of people if they're using the same needle everytime couldn't that be just as dangerous? It's sad to hear about stuff like this, so not cool

yah sharing needles is not good. what happens if someone injected air thru ur veins. u would die once it got to ur heart.

" no she JUST got tested. shes going to call her doctor to see if there's anythign they can even do. hiv can take up to 6 mo. to show up
