Well to be dead honest, there is always going to be research to say something is safe, and then others to say something is not safe. There are people that say its okay to take over the counter drugs when pregnant, others will say its not.
But when it comes to your unborn child... why would you want to get stoned when there is the risk that it could harm your child in the future? Would you consider it smart if I took X while pregnant? You would probably think it would be stupid. I am a firm believer that no substances should be taken while pregnant unless the benefit outweighs the risk. I almost miscarried and needed to be on pain pills for the extreme pain I was in. There was a risk with the pills, but the benefit of me being able to get out of pain and get up and eat and walk around was more of a benefit than the risk. Many doctors have the same outlook as well. I truly do not think that there is a benefit to weed that will outweigh the risk that it could potentially happen to your unborn child. |

Sure, there's always going to be research that says one thing and then something that says another, and that's why it's good to check your sources. And yea, everybody's different...that being said, the best research is unbiased and without an agenda. Ecstasy and marijuana are WAY different for being in the drug family -- I hate to sound trite but society has a very specific and narrow perception of controlled substances and they have the DEA and ADA and so many others to prove it. And who the fuck wants to go against the government at the cost of their credentials?
All I'm saying is doing the research behind what you want to do is key...when I looked into what's up with pot and pregnancy I found that there wasn't ANYTHING regarding negative results with pot smokin moms, and if there were, they didn't take out the crack/coke/smack factor. Everybody's hot to put pot down, and what better time to take advantage of a woman and her choices as when she's pregnant. There are conditions in pregnancy that are remedied by toking, are the doctors going to tell you that though? Of course they're gonna want to put you on stabilizers and all kinds of crazy unnatural shit, stick tubes down your throat when you can't hold something down for weeks on end, and drain the shit out of your insurance...in fact the first doctor I saw wanted to put me on anti-depressants because I have a medical marijuana card that was given to me for a mood disorder. And I said 'fuck you then' essentially and went elsewhere. Honestly I feel bad just walking down the street in the city because of all the pollution...and that's all I'm going to say about that. ![]() Quote:

Just because you can't find negative results doesn't mean that your smoking during pregnancy cant cause problems down the line for the child. Is it REALLY worth the risk? Seriously.... is it worth the risk for your baby to have health problems or learning disabilities just because you wanted to toke up?!?! There isn't long enough research to really have a set basis on whether or not it is good or not to smoke. But why take that chance... hey a drink here and there may not contribute to FAS. Does that mean you should drink when pregnant? ANY amount of drinking can cause a problem, and there really is no set standard on what amount causes problems for the baby, and what is okay. Don't you think that weed can be the same... why would you be selfish and smoke when there is no clear evidence that a certain amount will or will not harm your baby?
Ya know at first I was on your side, but this is just selfish. When you are pregnant you put your BABY first, not you. Toking up when pregnant is putting you first and tossing your baby aside. |

Whats funny is that no one has asked what the father has to say about this, i guess we are all just going to automatically assume there isn't one...

Well if the father is around and is okay with his babys mom smoking weed... then I TRULY fear for them truly being ready for a baby.

isn't there a study on pregnant rastafarian women? not taking sides, cuz personally i'd quit smoking well before a pregnancy if it was planned, but that might be something you both should check out.
anyway, ever thought about an edm-themed baby shower? close friends, dancing, music, and more control over the environment. probably less risky than actual raving with child. plus, GIFTS (probably mostly binkies, though). |

Who in their right mind would go to a rave while pregnant?! I think at this stage, expecting mothers need to take it extra careful. The loud noise (for one) could really bother the unborn baby. The eardrums havent even fully developed yet. Im not a doctor but I think if you're expecting, you should go see your doctor before going to a rave or something of that nature. You never know maybe it's harmless but you should definitely check it out first.

awwe congrats! i have a 2 week old little girl
![]() your best bet is talk to your doctor. if you are fine and having no problems you should be allright to go to a party or two before you get big. just don't drink, smoke anything or do any other drugs ofcourse. and dont get too close to the speakers. i talked to a few OBGYN's and they said its fine to go to partys where there IS NOT indoor smoking allowed and if you arn't too close to the speakers. they said the fetus' actually enjoy the pulsating feeling of the bass...and my baby still does. when we play UK hardcore not to loud she falls asleep lol. but yeah just talk to your dr. and congrats! |

While she's at the doctor she should ask if her weed habit will harm the baby.
See what her doc thinks about that. |
