i still stand by my statements, reason's external support is crap unless you're a HUGE rewire fan

FLS is much more modular, making it much more custom tailored to the artist.

want to import samples into reason? get ready to convert them.

and just for clarification, i own FLS and Reason

Well you proabably havent met them but there are many popular electronic music artists that use ableton, all you have to do is look up the hardware/software they use online. Albelton Live is ALSO good if you doing LIVE PA, infact thats why it was created.

HERE ARE SOME AMAZING INTERNATION ELECTRONIC ARTISTS AND DJS that use ABLETON, Artists like Chris Liebing and Speedy J, Junkie XL, NINE INCH NAILS, Meat Beat Manifesto, The Crystal Method,Coldcut, chicks on Speed, RICHIE HAWTON,PLASTIKMAN, WILLIAM ORBIT, BT, The PRODIGY, ARMIN VAN BUUREN, PAUL VAN DYKE, UNDERWORLD, VITALIC.

now lets take a look at the wiki for the crystal method:

* Ableton Live
* Access Virus
* Akai MPC3000
* Alesis Andromeda
* Apple G4
* ARP 2600
* Moogerfoogers MF101 & MF102
* Clavia Nord Lead
* Clavia Nord Modular
* Digidesign Pro Tools HD and D-Command
* E-mu Audity 2000
* E-mu E4
* E-mu XL-7
* E-mu Xtreme Lead
* E-mu E-64
* Farfisa Organ
* Fender Guitar/Bass
* Korg Electribe/S
* Korg Electribe/R
* Korg Kaoss Pad KP1
* Korg MicroKorg

* Korg MS2000
* Korg Prophecy
* M-Audio Ozonic
* M-Audio Trigger Finger
* Moog Memorymoog
* OSC OSCar
* ProCo RAT
* Roland JP-8000
* Roland CR-8000
* Roland Juno-106
* Roland Jupiter-6
* Roland SH-101
* Sherman FilterBank
* Waldorf MicrowaveXT
* Yamaha DX7
* Yamaha CS20
* Yamaha CS80
* Yamaha DX7IID
* Eventide H3000

well, i see AL, and i also see Protools, but more importantly i see:

Yamaha DX7
ProCo RAT
Roland JP-8000
Roland CR-8000
Roland Juno-106
Roland Jupiter-6
Roland SH-101
Access Virus
Akai MPC3000
Alesis Andromeda
Korg Electribe/S
Korg Electribe/R
Korg Kaoss Pad KP1
Korg MicroKorg
Korg MS2000

and those are just pieces of hardware that i've seen personally or know something about.

i highly doubt AL plays an essential part to TCM's music, they're more than likely just using it as a sequencer to control their hardware.

time for william orbit:

was gonna insert the instrument list, but he's not even listed on the ableton site.

but none of them use it for actual creation, i'm talking about the creation of dance music, dj's don't create music, they mix.

indeed, it's primary purpose is for "on the fly remixing" or something of the sort, and it can be used as a sequencer making it useful for dj's in a live setting.

Fl studio is still the most well rounded for dance music creation

(well rounded being decent value: expandability : power)

FL Studio is garbage.

Rewire Reason 4 with Cubase or Logic(if mac user).

FL never could hold a candle...

MAD HATERS UP IN HERE STFU K THANX!

it's not the tool, so much as the user behind it

any of the software mentioned, from fruity to protools to ableton to cycling to impulse tracker to buzz and more can be used to create PROFESSIONAL sounding tracks

i have seen people with the greatest and most expensive equipment create complete and utter rubbish!!

i have seen people with old pentium 1 computers and buzz tracker get a song on international top 10 djs mixes!

all ya'all haters need to step back and recognize

remember the lil box that started ACID HOUSE...the tb 303

do you have any idea at all that the tb 303 was looked at as a failure and a joke for years after it came out, that's one of the biggest reasons it didn't take off and they only made 20,000 or so of them!

equipment that people thought was crap, wound up starting a revolution in electronic music

take a deep breath, take another, and recognize that there are awesome people making awesome beats with the most menial and mundane software and hardware, i'll sample pots and pans if it gives me the final outcome that i want

it's music

it's not so much dependent upon the tool as it is the user behind the tool

much love and stop hatin', make phat beats with whatever you'd like to make phat beats with

OMFGPROTOOLS INDUSTRY STANDARD

EVARYTHANG ELSE AR GARBIGE, RONI SIZE USES REASON SO IT MUST BE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!11111111111111111111111111111oneoneoneone

i've been using fl since about 1.3 or so and reason since about 2.5

sure, it's a whole shitload of plugins built into one sequencer.

but even the demos that come with reason sound like ass.

i suggest you get off your industry standard pedestal and actually consider the real potential other software has.

not to say reason is horrible software... it's just not as good as Fl studio has become.

proprietary software = marketing

i have rebirth but don't use it, why? because i have to use rewire with it.

and all the softsynths you can buy that are non propellerhead, if you actually invest your money into a decent one (even cakewalk z3ta you can do leaps and bounds more than reason.

give me one thing reason can do that fl studio cant.

FL studio does not have THOR.

and to me it sounds like fucking ringtone music. the types of music i am into producing(ambient/chill psy) require the more experimental and rich sounds that reason has to offer. of course they're not as great as the vast majority of vsti's but i just like some the sounds rewired into cubase to mess around with.

i just remember using fruity loops when i was like 15 and it sounded so cheesy, i can't really comment on any of the later versions. i am mostly learning production through tutorials from isratrance, and there are few, if any FL studio threads.

it's come along way since version 3

thor's pretty cool, but i still don't like the interface or how it works.

i suggest you take a look at the newest version of FL and consider what can be done using a few "helpers" (vst's and higher grade samples)
