Drugs to be legal in Mexico soon

Just checked MSNBC.com, and Mexican President Vincente Fox, will soon be signing a bill too Legalize possession of Small amounts of PCP, Heroin, Cotcaine, Methamphetamine and Marijuana

I don't think he was strongly opposed to it and he didn't throw it out completely. He simply sent it back for a bit of revision. It's a good bill that should pass but I wouldn't think "hell yeah! Legal drugs" either. This is shifting attention from consumer to dealers. With more money being diverted to bringing down the large producers and distributors of these drugs they will be able to more effeciently wage their war on drugs. Keep in mind that by busting large scale operations there will be a drastic reduction in supply without a real change in demand. That means for drug consumers certain drugs will become fairly scarce and harder to get and / or the street prices will become insanely unaffordable to the general public. I don't see a huge change in marijuana prices and availability due to its simple cultivation; however, manufactured drugs such as PCP, Heroin, and Methamphetamine are a different story. But, hey, these are drugs that have a severe effect and leave an ineffable mark on society.

I think tho that if a bill like that passes, there will be a hell of a lot more raves in Mexico and a lot more people from California will be crossing the border to get drugs. I sure hope they don't pass something like that.

Heh, like not signing the bill would stop anyone from taking drugs anyways.

I don't think that the passage of this law will encourage people to do more drugs....if people don't like certain drugs they just won't do them...I don't think if they legalize heroin a lot of people will run and buy it....people will do drugs no matter what...if it's legal or not....it's just plain as that...and if people don't like drugs they won't do them just because they are legal....
