club and raves

my friend and I got in a argument about the diffrence between Raves and clubs tell him whats up!

I'm not gonna lie and say I've been to either a club or a rave so this is purely based on what i've read and talked to other people about but, my understanding is a club is a smaller venue than a rave and that it happens every week, a rave is ussually larger, sometimes illegal and is populated by well ravers lol, clubs are in my opinion a place to pick up girls and get fucked up, raves in my opinion are a place for escaping the confines of society, unity with your fellow man, love and expanding your conciousness, there is also ussually better Djs at Raves :-P

a club is a permanent venue with resident djs and "rave-like events" or that and non-rave events together. a rave is usually a gathering at a temporary illegal or legal venue with djs that are up and coming or well known djs, massive sound systems, and loads of people dancing or doing various other things while hoping the party doesnt get shut down by cops at 3 am in the morning.

Uh i dunno about that...all the best Djs play at clubs now and at massive events...Ex. Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Danny Tenaglia...

Hit the nail on the head. Clubs and raves are completly diffrent, most dance music played in clubs is club trance, whereas raves play rave music, stonking bass pounding from a massive stack of speakers in a filthy warehouse, outside in a field or forest etc. You do get "rave" events in clubs, but they're never the same, and anyway clubs turn out at like 4am a rave would go on well into the next day sometimes longer.

Pacha NYC plays Techno all the time....ive seen Chris Liebing, Speedy J,Geenvelvet, Sven VAth, all at Pacha.....
Also Spirit and CRobar have DNB artists all the time as well, some DNB artists ive seen at these clubs are Roni Size, Andy C, Dj rap...etc.

Thats a rave event in a club, your stating the obviouse a bit really arent yah, obviously not all clubs play club trance but genrally you'l find shite music in a club, some clubs hold rave nights with big dj's playing in which case yes there will be good tunes playing. And anyway their all commcercial dj's that you named, not really surprising to find them playing at commcercial events.

So what exactly was your point?
