So lately I've been hearing a lot about how the world is supposevely coming to an end in 2012. This is the year that the Mayan Calender ends. The mayans are ancient people who were all into asstrology and whatnot and predicted shit about the future and so far everything they have predicted has come true. I know that nobody knows the truth but is there anybody out there who has a real opinion on this? Cause I dont want to waste my life with college bullshit because it's just an investment for the future and if theres no futre well then...what's the fuckin point ya know? Interest me kids

This is a terrible misconception. the Maya do not have just one calendar, but a system of several calendars to illustrate the repetitive and cyclical nature of time. december 21, 2012 is the end of one of the longest units in the system, a Katun, and of course there are certain prophecies associated with the end and beginning of a new Katun but nothing about the end of the world. The calendar certainly does not end there and goes on to other Katuns. There is a significant astrological alignment that take place on that day, between the sun, the ecliptic plane of our galaxy, and the pleaiades stars which represent coming full circle, or completion. the astrological events leading up to this date are the ones predicting disaster, such as the venus transit. if you remember the last venus transit took place over the southeast pacific in december of 04, and the tsunami soon followed. the next venus transit takes place over the west coast of the US injune 2012. if there is a major disaster around that time, we can assume there is more to this astrology stuff. we will have to wait and see. but if it does happen, and all you west coast people get caught up- don't say no one warned you.

Yea -I have been faolowing this and reading about it for the past 3 years. There is a lot more to it than that, and it is a misconception that the world is going to end. The myans never thought that it would be the end on that day -Just that in this time period give or take a decade that the earth and space were going to go through major changes due to an alignment of the sun and our glaxy which has not happend since the dinisour days. So their is a good chance we as humans may not be able to adapt and die.

or like some scientist say if the poles switch polarity because of this alignment -it could be catostophic in the ways of Floods, Huricanes ect. . . . . . .Which is why the bible thumpers our buying into this as the end of the world -revelation is comming.

ALso note that Notrodumius accounts for this same time period being a changing event for humans -but some speculate that it could be an ENLIGHTENMENT and we will have evolved as a species. - either way still the end of this way of life we know now.

Wouldn't you feel like a total ass if you stopped going to college because "the world was going to end" and then that day comes... and nothing happens... and then life still goes on?


You aren't wasting your time in college. If the world ends someday, okay, fine... but don't sit around doing nothing as an excuse because you think the world will end. Its like everyone thought shit was going to go nuts at the start of the millennium... but our world didnt end, computers didnt go fucking crazy, all of our electronics worked still... life went on. There are lots of conspiracy theories about almost anything, just live your life doing good and if you truly feel that you are wasting your life for one reason or another, its simple. Change it. Don't waste your life but don't change just because you think the world is going to end.

Agreed. Guess I shouldn't be wasting my time thinking about this since theres nothing I can do to change anything. Kind of like the f'd up government

Even if the world won't end on that day it could end any day, you could be sitting at the bus stop and BAMMO! A car kills you. Or you could live a ling life and die old and grey, warm in our bed. Just let everyone know that you care about them so when it's over everyone knows you care.
