Household Atlanta, Generation Drop, and Abstract Logic Recordings proudly bring you: BREAKIN' IN THE NEW YEAR!! with THE UNDISPUTED KINGS OF THE BOOTY BREAKS: ![]() ![]() ![]() DEEKLINE & KEITH MACKENZIE w/ SPORTY-O Rat Records, Botchit Records, Bounce! // London, UK - illeven:eleven, Zone Recordings // Chicago, Illinois UK DJ/Producer Deekline's impact on the worldwide dance music scene is undeniable. The premier sonic architect behind hits like 'I Don't Smoke the Reefa' (which climbed to an impressive #9 spot in the UK charts) helped establish his Rat Records imprint as a favorite among breakbeat aficionados everywhere. Both as a solo artist and as half of powerhouse production team 'Deekline & Wizard' he's continued to champion his own brand of dancefloor funk, working with diverse, yet like-minded artists such as Old Dirty Bastard, Prodigy, The Freestlyers, Armand van Helden, Stanton Warriors and Ed Solo. With a full length album on the way, he still keeps a hectic release schedule on his other independent labels Hot Cakes and Booty Breaks in addition to an in-demand global DJ career. Originally from Tampa, FL, Chicago native Keith MacKenzie has been at the forefront of all things breakbeat for well over a decade as part of DJ Icey's mighty Zone Records label. After multiple releases and high profile collaborations with the likes of Icey, Infiniti and DJ Fixx (as KMFX) on established US labels like Zone, Afterdark and Bottom-End Records, Keith created his own imprint, Illeven:Eleven. Now 10 releases deep, the label continues to function as a conduit of sorts, melding and combining fresh sounds by up and coming and established US talent with their overseas counterparts in an attempt to smash breakbeat genre conventions. For the past 8 years, Keith has also kept an energetic touring calendar, playing upfront DJ sets to very receptive crowds across the US and internationally. The Booty Breaks sound has been conceived from the ground up as a reflection of the ever changing palette of the average dance music lover. Taking it's cues from current short attention span-addled dancefloor trends, it incorporates elements from disparate genres like house, hip hop/booty bass, mainstream pop, and rock within the existing breakbeat framework. The result is a road-tested, hyperkinetic blend of beats, sure to pique the interest of hardcore fans and casual listeners alike. Along with: ![]() AK1200 POTD, Project 51, Big Riddem Recordings, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] , [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] // Orlando, FL AK1200, America’s original jungle/drum n bass don has been pushing the sound since the music’s initial incarnation as hardcore breakbeat. As one of the U.S.’s original proponents of breakbeat music, AK started DJing in 1989, playing electro and other beat friendly music of that time. In 1990, he opened a record store in his hometown of Orlando, FL called The Hottie Shoppe, where he began developing relationships with burgeoning breakbeat labels such as Suburban Base and Moving Shadow. Via these early relationships, he quickly became known in the UK as someone who could spread the message in America, and by 1991, he was writing articles and reviews in the classic US Rave. Around this same time, Dave Minner also gained his moniker as AK1200 when fellow Floridian DJ Icey noticed the hyped-up BPM’s of the tunes Dave would play in The Hottie Shop, and said “You’re playing so fast that you are like an AK on the 1200’s!” Icey started throwing raves at The Edge and he would put “Dave AK1200 Minner” on the flyer. The name stuck ever since. For the next few years, AK headlined the second room of countless parties throughout the US, continuing to make a name for himself. As Jungle music evolved and became more popular, so did AK1200. Also in 93, he was invited to the UK again, this time to DJ, and played alongside such greats as Hype, Mickey Finn, Swift and Zinc, Danny Breaks, SL2, and several others for a Christmas party for Suburban Base Recordings. AK was also the first American to play on the UK’s pirate radio, playing alongside Swift and Zinc on Format FM. Back home in the US, Jungle was beginning to finally get its due, though still hated-on by many of the nations party promoters, it was too big to be ignored. At this point there were literally tons of US jungle DJ’s coming up, and AK searching for something different, found a great appreciation for the lighter side of jungle championed by labels such as Timeless & Good Looking, which became known as Drum and Bass. AK found light in the soulful sounds of musical Drum and Bass, and began opening or closing for people like Sasha and Digweed in the main rooms of many raves and clubs across the US. Slowly over the later half of the 90’s, AK1200 again enhanced his sound and style, giving his fans a smooth transition to the rawest, most aggressive sounds of the time. By constantly touring nationwide, releasing 4 very highly received mix CD’s on the Moonshine label, remixing many acts such as The Crystal Method, Rabbit in the Moon, A Tribe Called Quest, Dub Pistols, Keoki, Cirrus, & Freestyle, AK1200 was regarded as one of a very small handful of DJ’s to truly conquer the scene in America. More recently, AK and longtime colleagues Dieselboy and Dara came to realize that they on their own had become the top three dnb DJ’s in the US, so what would happen if they joined forces? The answer of course, was world domination, and the Planet of the Drums (POTD) crew was born. At this time, AK also signed with Lakeshore - :\run recordings, and began work on his most adventurous project to date: a full length studio album…Two years in the making, “SHOOTTOKILL” marks the debut studio album from AK1200. “I felt that I have gone practically as far as one can go as a DJ. I have always been interested in production, and thought it was the right time for an artist album- it was the next logical step for me. I have so many influences musically that you can’t really express as just a DJ, and the songs on the album reflect who I am creatively without the limits of what I have to play as a DJ,” states AK. Not wanting to simply make an album reflecting whatever the current sound of the moment is in drum and bass, AK chose to make an album that embodies the history of the sound – which is, in fact, his own history. “SHOOTTOKILL” moves with ease through the many styles of this very diverse form of music, from the opening modern ragga track “Junior’s Tune” featuring legendary reggae vocalist Junior Reid of Black Uhuru to the MASSVIE vocal stormer “Fake” feat. Terra Deva (the album’s lead single), to the chill dnb sounds of “Deja Nu”. Another strong thread throughout the album is the sound of Florida. All the songs on SHOOTTOKILL are anchored with a sonic quality and songwriting level that, no matter what the country of origin and no matter what genre classification, is impressive. The future for AK1200 is becoming a reality rather quickly. Plans for his own artist imprint via Lakeshore - :\run recordings are being solidified now, and POTD members AK, Dieselboy, Dara and newly inducted MC J-Messinian have already planned on a studio collaboration before the years end. The incessant touring will of course continue as POTD is steadily proving that they are as much of a draw as any top name superstar DJ. As drum and bass and electronic music as a whole both expands and matures, AK1200 plans to be there leading the charge for the breakbeat massive at every step of the way. ‘Nuff respect. ![]() QUADRANT Renegade Hardware, Citrus, Syndrome, Fokuz // Atlanta, GA ![]() REL 1 Bombtraxx, Mechanoise, ALR, BreaksFM // Atlanta, GA MCs: KAKAROT MC & MC EVADE Location: The Masquerade (Purgatory) 695 North Ave NE Atlanta, GA 30308 (404) 577-8178 Doors: 10pm-4am 18+ Welcome 21+ To Drink Cover: $25 @ The Door |

Another "party" at the Masq? I think I'll pass.
And does that Quadrant guy seriously not have a picture of himself without dirty laundry in the background? |

Dude, are you serious? The Masq is a sick venue. Not to mention that Gen Drop parties are some of the best parties I've been to. Great ppl and always an amazing vibe. Anyone that doesn't go to this is really missing out. Great job on yet another sick line-up Tim

So if I understand correctly, the Masq sucks I shouldn't go to this party? I'm going to be moving to Atlanta soon with a few people and everyone seems to disagree with your spin when I ask about the Masq. I'll be visiting during the next two weeks so I'll form my own opinion on the place. So there's garunteed dnb here? Nice. Quadrant seems like a straight up fashioncore emo..is he any good? |

REALLY??!?!?! Come on now.. there is a VERY VERY LIMITED scene if you can call it a scene at all here in Atlanta... no need to be acting like the Circuit party promoters and calling other peoples parites in.. this is the way the scene DIES.. IF YOUR PARTY IS GOOD and you give them a good show people will come no matter whats going on... There are enough ravers to go around... just do your part and provide the "best" party! I advertised for Jungle Bells even though I had a party myself that Sat as well, so your not the only two doing parties. add me to myspace and I'll advertise for your parties too.... I have faith in my shows Much love ![]() [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] SHOW LOVE FOR EACHOTHER NOT HATE Last edited by Wildphyre; 23.12.2008 at 4:51 pm.. I cant imagine it could hold a crazy amount of people. Heaven and Hell are the stages for each of the 2 floors with purgatory off the the side which is essentially a bar, but heaven and hell each have a smaller bar. Its a pretty cool place, you get enough people jumping around in heaven and the floor starts to bounce, the building seems a bit like a castle with the brick, mortar, and wood that make it up... not the best part of Atlanta, if you get hungry and dont feel like buying food there you could walk to kroger up the street.... expect hobos, there was one crazy one i remember saying "BLOOD! BLOOOOOD! NEEEEED BLOOOD!" as we went in and when we came out he asked for change.... |
