light shows

im new to the rave scene and i was given a light show and ever since then i have been trying to learn how to do it myself but it does'nt work if you have no idea where to start if anyone can teach me or let me know what i need to do to start practicing

all i can say the first step was learning to feel the "flow" as i call it. just start dancing with glowstix, forget the actual lightshow at first, and this of coarse helps if you're rolling, at least in my book. just dance and move your arms about and you'll start to feel like your arms want to move in a circular movement ie rolling haha. have them just spin in a simple circle, and usually that can start to slide into the figure 8 movement. but seriously just play around with it for a little time. the basics aren't hard to pick up.

then after that, theres all these little tricks from there u can throw in.

also check out [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] theres plenty of tutorials on that site to help with the basic moves and some more advance ones as well. Main thing I think is finding your style of giving lightshows. Main thing is to have fun with it and flow with the music.

and something to remember, and something that gave me cofidence, is..

*anyone you give a lightshow to doesn't know you have no clue of what to do..

an easy thing to do is just get some led or glowsticks in front of some people and ee what they like... some people roll differant than others..

and don't forget to round their perifreals (can't spell, but the side view of the eye)

It's "peripheral." Knowing how to do the figure 8 is the first step. Feeling the music is the next step--gotta control your speed to the speed of the music. Then you BS it and do a bunch of crazy moves. You could ask people to give you light shows and see what they do and what you like. Receiving is a part of learning.
