This member is the original thread starter. raver Introducing a Wannabe Kandiraver Girl

I'm extremely new to the scene, really not having yet been to a real rave, but after...erm...trying some things this summer , I've really begun to discover I need to get out there and rave.

Specifically, I'm really interested in the candyraver idea, I know it seems to have "died" a while ago, but I'm sure there's people keeping it alive, so I really want to find them, hang out with them, work on my style, find the cool events, etc.

I live down in Fremont but I have very easy access to the city (which I love btw, having moved here from PA about a year ago, its incredible)

I've been out doing things a few times, more just parties (generally stuff connected to burning man) but I'm planning on attending both Earthdance and the Lovefest Afterparty (going to this one b/c it will be a friend's first party ever).

I'm really into both happy hardcore and psytrance, both make me quite happy and get me dancing almost no matter what.

I've been doing some googling, and this forum seems absolutely awesome for meeting the kind of people I'm looking for, lots and lots of PLUR (which, btw, has become my life's philosophy even now)

EDIT - respelled the title more properly, left "misspellings" in the message to keep things from looking too confusing

first off hun it's kandiraver. Your right I believe it has died down, now it's just more of dressing what you feel comfy in. Anyways, I go with lots of kandi on just not dress up too much. I enjoy trading! But I hope you have a blast! I can't wait to hear what your first event was like.

Sorry about the spelling , I've seen it every way imaginable around the web.

It just seems the right thing for me, I've really thought about it a lot, and I plan to make a bunch of kandi over the next month here so I have plenty to wear/trade/gift.

Good luck in finding people to party with. There are some really awesome people you get to meet when attending events and whatnot.

Here in Chicago the raving scene isn't exactly bumping, or even fidgiting, so it's ultra hard to make friends out here, at least those who share your common intrest in raving that is.

but whatever happens, best wishes to you and your newfound expirences. Just try your best to learn from every single one you endure and you'll be golden.

Aw don't worry about how to spell it, hun.
There's really no right or wrong way to spell it, only the most common way (which is kandikid/kandiraver/whatever.)
:]
But it can be spelled in a multitude of ways.

ANYWAY.
I'm not a kandi kid myself, but most of my raver friends are, and trust me dear, that style has not died. As long as there's people who truly believe in what being a Kandi raver represents (PLUR and whatnot), it will never really die.

I do, however, love giving out kandi that I made myself, but not wearing it to the excess.

All this sounds absolutely awesome, I'll have to look through. I don't have much skill or experience making clothing but I would love to get into it! (especially with *also* becoming a burner this year and wanting to do more with that next year).

I'll let you know asap when I have some kandi made to show for trade

I will indeed be doing my best to learn from my experiences, even the weird and bad ones (like last weekend when I learned a lesson in moderation ) and as for the scene, I'm sure its alive somewhere out here in the SF area, I mean, its San Francisco!

Good luck up in Chicago too, I'm sure it can be pretty dull at times, I know I ran from Pittsburgh, PA to get away from the dullness (and the weather)

(ed - trimmed image b/c of limit)

Awesome, I really do want to be a serious kandi kid myself, so what I really need is to find some kandi ravers out there willing to meet someone new and take her under their wing a bit. As a noob, I rather do need a little help here and there. I'm sure there have to be some out here in the SF area, and I really can't wait to meet them!

All the responses so far have me just incredibly full of PLUR! This place rocks!
