San Diego is a wonderful place full of peace love unity and respect amongst real people. We need a scene, guys! I love Los Angeles, they have amazing parties, but I know San Diego has potential too! As conservative as San Diego is, I'm positive we could have spectacular parties. Does anyone want a scene here? Wouldn't it be easier to drive to massives in the SD convention center rather than the staple center in LA? We have the foundation, we just need to unite and do something about it.

Can I get an amen? Please?

AMEN!

I moved to Riverside (Temecula) in March but still frequent my hometown San Diego to chill and get the dancing outta my pants. Your suggestion to start a scene in SD is wonderful, but I think its all about keeping the scene united down there since it already started in the early 90s.

I haven't been to an underground party there since 98, BUT, I think there's a free party tomorrow, Sunday October 7th from Noon 'til 10PM, at the J Street Marina in Chula Vista. It would be a great way to meet those who might want to help reestablish some roots. Sunday parties have always been a favorite of mine. In my opinion, they're the best thing SD has to offer to "the scene" down there. And you're most likely to run into DJs that have been doing it real in San Diego for quite some time.

If you can, try to make it out to...

no offense gangster, but sd has had a scene for a long time

while you guys don't get a big enough draw to have big massives like los angeles, you do get lotsa' weeklies, permitted raves, and undergrounds, tons of outdoor parties too

like tonight for instance, if i lived in the sd area, i'd be hitting up planet for sure, but i'm not in sd so i won't be hitting it up, hehe

it's here but barely, and I'd definetly argue the whole "lotsa' weeklies" thing. Additionally whenever someone finally throws something around here its on the some night as something way better in la or san bernadino. Like tonight for instance yes theres planet, I'm going to the butterfly ball instead. Not as bad as throwing it same night as edc or monster granted. Dunno SD definetly needs more people here getting involved, if even in the form of house parties. ("pajamuary" was a good one
Dunno come to the day party tomorrow, meet some people, exchange numbers, and organize some get togethers

ok look sd has a small TIGHT rave scene and thats the way we like it!! ppl down here r way more PLUR than la. we dint want it to turn into an la type scene. Ive been part of the sd scene for like 10 years now. i know a lot of the promoters and djs and all of them r in it for the music and not the $. we used to have huge parties but after the rave laws they all went UG (where they belong). i will pick any sd party over any la party! come to a party this weekend we r throwing 2 on sat night and 1 on Sunday all day. i promise that u will have a awesome time!!!!

I agree! I'd go to a lot more events if they were down here mostly cause it would be an easier commute and the rents wouldn't freak out as bad. I mean SD has the qualicom parking lot and a tonnn of empty airplane hangers! Theres a ton of potential that we can tap into :3

no offense taken, homie. i do appreciate the parties and the people throwing them here in SD. but the fact is big names don't play san diego because there isn't a big enough scene. i love hearing some ug d&b and break and some of the DJs around here are pretty good. however that isn't representative of every RAVE goer. parties are not raves. and often times gatherings like planet are in clubs, not everybody is 21. in fact, i'll bet if you were to go to, say, monster massive and introduce yourself to 20 people, the majority would be between 18 and 21.

thanks for supporting the underground san diego scene

yeah dont think you can get it big enough to support headliners. Ofcourse if you pick a date carefully, find a good venue and actually bank enough cash you could make it work once in a while. though there was a good warehouse party or two in the past couple years.. like the one by the bike shop. Even then was 400 ppl max, which most people down here would be quite content with as an alternative actually..

isnt there a party in mission bay every year?? maybe 6months ago i was with my friend chillen at the beach at night by a firepit and i saw a pretty big gathering that looked fun (= someone told me its an annual thing, anyone know what im talkin about or when it is? they had gates blocking the area off and tents and around 500 people... looked like some cool lights set up etc.

i keep hearing about the 'scene' in SD but its all in clubs which is LAME

I would absolutly love to have a San diego scene. I'm tired of having to drive to LA all the time, although its always worth the trip.
