I was rolling and baked but we found our car pretty easy.
That was a fun night. Jason and I watched Nacia chill a centimeter in front of those huge bass cab's for atleast five minutes, I was laughing so hard (you were zoned). The hightlight of my night was watching random dudes hook nacia up with drinks and then try to talk to her only to come off as fucking idiots. What's up with guys not knowing how to approach a girl? |

I put my head against the speakers for a minute, Hmmm.....
"I can't hear anything" 'what did you say?!?!' "I can't hear!!' "HUHHHHH" 'Nevermind..' YAY for lip reading. Yeah It was funny, Mary was buying us drinks, but she couldn't go up and by 3 drinks at a time for all of us. So I pushed Nacia to ask some random guy to get her a drink. And then it turned out that that guy remembered me from "somewhere" although I did too, and I still cna't remember from where lol |

There's a good following of partykids in SD and nobody dares to cater to them... Promoters would rather promoter to the same jaded crowd hoping they'll come and support while the true dedicated partykids travel every weekend to LA (or even AZ) for a party... A park party is all fun and dandy... But where's the quality underground style events?... Channel, you fuckin' rock!!!... From the moment we met at the Fire Tribe party in O-Side where we dj'd on rooftop of that beach house (wish I had that tag-team set we did together)... I knew you were different... Glad to see you getting recognition from proper people... You're doing what alot of the others aren't... Making shit happen... Peace... |

Channel is fucking pimp. He seems like a genuine and real DJ. I want to see one his sets. Most of the places he spins happens to be 21+.
I think I saw Channel on the Frequency Party -- If so, I will be there to support you, bro. |

ok, so i havent really seen any of it first hand, except for the fact that I dont like the crowds I've seen at the clubs that i have attended in down town, a clubber and a raver are two different types of people. I mean I've actually been downtown and been told that I'm not dressed appropriately. WTF? im not here to stand and model... im here to dance my ass off, so you're damn right i'm gonna be in jeans, a t-shirt, a hat and my dancing shoes. And yes, the hat is mandatory, watch me dance sometime and you'll see why. Cause yea... when I go to listen to DJs, i dont want to hear one DJ all night, and i want to be in comfortable clothes, because by the time i leave, i'm gonna be COVERED in sweat from dancing. Now granted, i'm new here... maybe I still just dont know the chill places where the groovers unite, but i've found san diego clubs to be largely stuck up and pretentious.
plus come on... san diego party kids that are under 21 are forced to drive up to LA to party. Now, whether you or not you, endorse, condone, or chastise drug use... you KNOW that many of these kids are using SOMETHING at those parties. Then they also have to drive home. THIS IS NOT SAFE! Granted, drug use in the first place can never be described as safe... but this is much more of a risk, that could be avoided. Granted, people will still go up there for things like Monster, TAO etc. but it wont be a weekly journey. As far as the 'jaded' thing goes. I've heard a lot of negative things from some people, and a lot of positive things from others. Basically what it appears to me is that the "Jaded" people around here are united... where as the "vibers" as I call them are not! What needs to happen, is the positive, enthusiastic people that want to see something different happen, need to come together, and work together to build what they want. There will be sacrifices... and if you're really involved there will be a LOT of responsibilities. And you party kids that are screaming for a scene... make sure you're wanting it for the right reason. Make sure you're here for the music and the culture, not just the drugs. Yes, the drugs are a part of our community... it will forever be so. But i'm going to tell you right now... if i'm throwing a party... you better keep your shit on the D/L... if I see it, see you taking it, or see you TOO fuckin high at one of my parties, friend or not, i will NOT hesitate to ask you to leave for the night. Have fun, do what you're going to do... but be responsible about it, control yourself while you do it, excersize some common sense, and respect those people that are taking the risk to bring you events locally. To the promoters working towards reviving the scene here: would anyone be opposed to putting up a forum/message board somewhere for promoter discussions for hashing out ideas, possible collaborations, discussions about laws and jurisdictions, and to throw up a tenative calendar to see dates that people are planning parties so we can avoid conflict and competition. I mean eventually, if the scene grows as it hopefully will, schedueling conflicts and competition will arise, as is natural, and at that point desired... but as we get things going, there should be plenty of opportunity to schedule around each other and collectively promote growth in the scene. I'm here for the music, and the vibe... nothing more, nothing less |

co-fuckin' sign Tygon!!!
I whole heartedly agree... Please don't take my words as me being "jaded"... Because I'm far from not... I'm a realist... I've been doing this shit since 1992 and most of it in San Diego!!!... I was there in the RomperRoom Days where you could see Merlyn, Thee-O, and Jon-E Thin throw it down rave style!!!... I was there when Jon Bishop played techno on the sands of Dog Beach!!!... It was at a rave in some loft in downtown (where the ballpark is now) where I got a white label from Christopher Lawrence!!!... Good times indeed!!!... I'm in full support of anyone who has the balls to jump start the stagnant SD scene!!!... I may not live there anymore, but it will always be my home... I support people who are down for doing things for the right reasons... That is the positive promotion of the RAVE scene... And anyone who wants my help... Well, it's thiers for the taking... I don't ask much in return... Because it's for the love of the music and those who support it that I do this shit... Peace... |
