People in the North County are being told to boil their water.
Mayor Jerry Sanders held a press conference Saturday to issue a mandatory boil water order for the communities of Rancho Penasquitos, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, Bernardo Heights, Bernardo Trails, Bernardo Oaks, Oaks North, Pomerado Park and Lake Hodges.
The street boundaries for the boil water order are Mercy Road and Scripps Poway Parkway in the south; the border of the city of Poway, but not including Poway, in the east; lake Hodges in the north and five miles west of Interstate 15 in the west.
Tests showed coliform was present in water in the area after a water main break in Rancho Penasquitos on Tuesday. Second testing showed E.Coli was present in the water.
The origin of the bacteria is unknown at this time.
Crews are working around the clock to resolve the issue.
