I feel ya, paradox. I'm at school in Savannah, GA of all places. If possible I think its deader than SC. But I know a couple kids who spin, and I'm trying to learn, or at least learn to produce from yet another friend. Anything to keep the party going, you know?

I'll check it out. I've been seeing more and shows popping up around here actually. Just went to one this weekend at The Living Room (biweekly - above Joe Pasta's in downtown- corner of king and john) that was like 80%+ russian girls....amazing scenery and all very polite. Prior to that there was this wicked breakbeat show at the plex (north chas) that I hit up. And of course there's always something going down at the oasis on james island (folly rd). That's pretty much all I know for now. |

If you are looking to start something up, I would be willing to help. I currently mix on my laptop/computer and turntables and have been for a few months now. Turntables I am still somewhat shaky on but I can provide something substantial on my laptop for live mixing. I'd be willing to go up to columbia (since I am originally from there and still have family there) to play a small set if you ever get a venue. Currently I'm in Charleston, SC for school down here at the medical university. However, I'd love to find some place to start off with a small set of old house/trance music and work my way up from there. Send me an email if you want anymore info.

There's a tech itch and ewun drum and bass show in morrisville, nc this saturday that's gonna be awesome. Also club tonic has been doing a few techno-oriented things in downtown, but it didn't appeal to me all that much. If you want to get up a small DIY party to get some play time that's something that's a lot more feasible than anything else we go going on. Maybe we could just have a few hours of open sets of people's productions and mixes? Something small scale, even if in someone's house or something. |

Someone's house would be fine. All we would need is an amp, two turntables, and a mixer, and everyone to bring their vinyl. Wouldn't want to really do it unless we have 4-5 different people. Make it somewhat of a mix session with different people for learning/exploring/helping others/getting help. AIM name is Phexerian if you wanna hit me up. Put yours on my list.
It may be possible that some obscure bar would have a place to set up for a few hours. I know Jim Casey's in columbia used to have a DJ spin there every now and then. |
