SOMATICA was created by local dj and promoter T.D.Shagga in May 2004, simply because there wasn't an outlet in Melbourne for the harder, weirder, more psychedelic & progressive underground sounds. With an emphasis on quality music, sound, decor and location. Beginning as a monthly indoor party, Somatica quickly grew into a well respected underground club with capacity events and dance floor lunacy while presenting prominent local & interstate dj's and producers, holding compilation release parties for Australian labels such as Gi'iwa productions and Killah Tea Records and also worked in conjunction with 3DJAB to present Israeli producer Pixels tour/album launch. It then moved to the next phase of holding outdoor events, with a free party on Boxing Day 2004 at Westgate Park that attracted over 400 people. 2005 saw the inception of the Easter outdoor Gatherings. Completely legal, professional outdoor events in the Aussie bush, complete with the Somatica ethos. After a brief pause in 2007, 2008 will mark the return of the Easter Outdoor Gathering which will include a major component on environmental impact, startling decor and installations and an expansion to the music policy to include breaks, minimal and other genres whilst keeping that psychedelic edge.
