REPHRASE (Sydney, DJ set)
Saturday 24 November 2007 @Roxanne Parlour
Sydney's producer/musician Jamie Olsen is hitting Melbourne for the release of his new Rephrase album "Little Victories" and upcoming double remix CD. This home-grown talent is receiving worldwide support from artists like Fort Knox Five, AGFA, Mo Horizons, Ed Royal & A Skills. The track "Since 1939" has been heard on Big Brother, Home & Away and during the World Cup coverage. He brings a DJ style that is the perfect mix of hip hop, breaks, funk & house.
In 2001 Jaime formed Sydney breaks duo Db Chills, who signed to Stephen Mallinder’s (Cabaret Voltaire) Offworld Sounds label and soon became DMA nominees for their debut album Broke Sound. 2003 saw Jaime concentrate on his budding sound as Rephrase, with release of his first solo album Beat Coaster to much critical acclaim from John Stapleton (Dope On Plastic), Giles Peterson, AGFA, Fort Knox Five and Miguel Migs. Recent times have seen the Rephrase phenomenon spread worldwide with releases & remixes on labels such as Funk Weapons, Freestyle Records, Jack To Phono, Innvision Records but to name a few… Rephrase puts the fun back into funky breaks!!
