What bothers me about this whole story is how people are so quick to blame... I know it's human nature to blame as a form of explanation, we can't live without really knowing (i.e. religion-not that im saying religion isn't real, but there is a reason why it's so popular, but i digress..)... Why wasn't the school shut down? well, one, it's not a small community college..it could have taken well over two hours, and, two, there was no reason to believe that someone was going to go shoot up the school. The first casualties could have been from a dispute, not some mass murderer.... also, think about it, if it would have been shut down and there was no danger, people would have been pist that they had to stay confined like prisoners... or, people would have panicked and shutting down would have been difficult. Also, people are asking why he didn't get kicked out of school, but getting someone kicked out involves due process that is there to protect everyone from asshole teachers and lying students... if he would have been kicked out, there could have been this whole lawsuit about how they discriminated against Koreans... AND the fact that he has mental problems isn't enough to force someone into therapy or medication, etc. People have rights, and you would have no idea how many people have mental disorders yet function as that wasn't the case. A valedictorian in my college was Schitzophrenic... These things are here to protect us all, and yes, sometimes it backfires and fucked up shit like this happens. It's really easy to look back on something and critique how it could have been done better......
btw, I am just talking in general, not to anyone in here in particular... damn, that was a lot.... props to anyone for reading all that!!! lol Last edited by PinkiBone; 20.4.2007 at 12:51 am.. Reason: cause my spellin sucked |

dude the kids just a loser that got rejected by soem cute rich blonde women.
peopel die. i personally am a HUGE fan of faces of death, especially the one where the blow the guys face apart (while hes alive) one bullet at a time with an AK-47 from 6 inches away. his lips and jaw are dangling off and hes trying to scream but he cant... or the one where the old man shoots himself in the head in front of a crowd of people. peopel die. yea, it sucks. but a hundred years from now, everyoen living on this planet will be dead. accidents happen, we obviously arent learnign from it, or doing anyhitng to let our citizens carry guns and protect themselves, so fuck it. ill sit back and watch peopel die until there is no one left. take comfort in the fact that next time it could be you. ps think of bullits as an extreme form of an evolutionary tool. peopel will stop dyign when we adapt and evolve to grow shells of armor. thank these brave men and women for weeding out those not strong enough to stop bullets. |

I understand why he wasn't kicked out everyone deserves an education, but nobody deserves to get shot because of it. I disagree I think thats a perfectly good reason to put someone on medication and obvously it needed to happen. People rights only go so far and as soon as they start to affect another person and he was affecting other people, his rights stopped. People that have mental disorders function as if they do unless you can give me an example in which they don't because if they don't function as if they do then how do you know that they really have one? |

He should have done humanity a favor and paid respect to Darwin by eating the first bullet and not bring others down with him.

Someone on here said that Cho's dad killed himself, and then his mom tried to OD on something (I think it was page 2)...forgive me for not quoting, I don't want to go back and search....with that kind of an upbringing, this guy obviously did not have the luxary of a good home-life....it's been proven your most crucial ages of becoming who you are, are when you are a kid. I'm not condoning what this guy did, but I also think that with anything, there's always 2 sides to every story. Why not try to figure out WHY this guy did what he did, and learn from it as a society...instead of just talking shit about him now that the event is over....I watched the tape, and he's got like a crusader mindset - feeling like he is doing the world a favor - same general idea as what extremist suicide bombers have. My fear is that more people have this mindset, and sometimes all it takes is one person to start a precedent for others to follow....I think we should be trying to figure out how to prevent this kind of thing in the future.
And, gun laws and more cops will not do it....the fucking gov just wants to convince everyone that guns are to blame, and should be taken away, so that they can have more power over citizens (my OP anyway). Sometimes people are trying to be plain mean and have the intention of causing harm...that's a law issue; sometimes people think their cause is just (as this guy did)....that's a whole other issue entirely....the motivation is completely different....if you believe in something, you will be willing to be a martyr. In my POV, the answer is to attack the question of what set him off to begin with? He states that he has "had to" do this - implies he didn't want to....like a last resort kind of deal. I think we should be attacking the root here, not complaining about the symptoms of it. |

yes, some people need the medication to function normally, but not all. a lot of disorders are mental imbalances that can be balanced without medication. To diagnose they have to show some sort of symptom, and that's how you can know they have one.. but just becuase someone has a mental problem doesn't mean they wont be able to overcome it and function regularly... Of course non of those people deserved to get shot... but if we were locking up every weird kid or medicating every weird kid, we'd have mmany more problems... |
