And don't think that alternative education is cheap, I worked at for a few years and there are teachers they get paid 80k, so it is the same as regular schools just more regulated and different teaching methods. Whats after that? well the end of the road is juvi, which i dont think is cheaper than schools. If you really want to make them cost less in taxes, then kill them. Quote:
Honestly, in regards to this, if your ok with this, then your ok with pay taxes for the government to randomly drug test employees in america. If parents choose not to participate in drug testing in high school, well then there goes that district, they would either have to find a distrct that doesnt do it (yet) and then relocate if must, or pay for a private school or home schooling. the people in high school you knew that did drugs are losers now, so what, that is them, doesnt mean all are like that. Losers come from losers, regardless of drugs or not. and as for me relating drugs and sex. There is a big issue in America school system about sex education, and if they should teach it or propagandize Abstinence as the only safe sex, which by that standard doesnt teach kids anything about sex, and just makes them feel guilty and scared about it. Now I want tax dollars to go to drug education, not drug testing, they are pretty much giving up on D.A.R.E. which means kids wont know anything about drugs except what they hear from their friends. fucked up shit if you ask me. anyway, on how you said you will treat your kids, I respect you on that, because if it does happen (hopefully for all of us future parents it wont) at least your stating that you understand what your kids are going through. |

Teknical....Respect
Drug testing in schools is bullshit. The entire idea behind it is that if you do drugs you cannot do well in school and consequently life. I smoke weed 4-5 times a week and occasionally roll while maintaining a 3.2 gpa. Funny enough i was randomly drug tested by my high school last week. Fortunetly for me i didnt show up for anything (no idea why, i smoked the day before i was tested ), if i had tested positive all it would have done was fuck up things with my family. My parents might not have paid for college had that happened. |

Wish it were that easy Lazer. State law is superceded by federal law (as in cops using federal law against a states medicinal marijuana users), but if there is NOT a federal law, like taking drug tests for school, then a state law with the same idea is just as powerful as federal law. Simple as that. |

i know in private schools they can drug test you without a big fight because at some private schools u have to sign something at the beginning of each year that pratically gives away all ur constutional rights away which sucks
but it dosnt effect me anymore seeing as i am in college now hehe ![]() |

yea i had to deal with that at my hs.
random drug tests for all students (nida 5) 1st positive: call to parents, being put on a list for a year (u get tested randomly once up to three times a month at ur expense), 5 counceling sessions 2nd positive: call to parents, deans are notified, meeting with disciplinary review council to determine whether or not u get expelled (u almost always get to stay. as long as u say ur sorry. haha), u stay on the list as long as ur in that hs, 5 counceling sessions. 3rd positive: automatic expulsion it was very stressful. but i made it through. did nothing for me except stress me out. i failed it twice. it was soo stupid i wasnt even a bad student. my drug use didnt interfere with my schoolwork. getting kicked out of school for drugs would prolly be more damaging to my future than me doing the drugs themselves. all the drug testing did was made me plan my drug use (e.g. doing something soon after a drug test, or doing stuff friday to give myself the weekend to detox) also i found ways around it by doing exercize and drinking redlines to metablolize drug byproducts. and am i a loser? no. fuck u if u think that. i'm a B+ full time university student with a job. and i pretty much grew out of %50 of my drug use simply because i have matured. my high school years were just my experimentation phase. the most positive anti drug approach is a "realistic" approach that does not make drugs look EVIL or DEADLY and none of this drugs are for LOSERS. facts and harm reduction = way to go |

I guess they finally figured out that their DARE program wasn't working-huh?
Its not gonna get kids to follow their stupid "Just Say No" campaign if they start randomly drug testing, kids are just gonna skip school or drop out all together. Why not stop working so much on taking everything the kids have available and work more on giving them other choices that are more appealing? You can't say just don't do drugs-what the hell else are they gonna do? Homework??? Goodie. That'll get them to show up =P |

I have mixed feelings about it, but I am more on the part that it shouldn't be okay because what I did in my free time in school had no effect on my school work. I'm against it because a lot of kids experiment in high school, and not everyone fucks up and becomes a drug addict and gets into tons of trouble. For the kids that fuck up with drugs so bad that they screw their lives up, then them doing drugs and getting kicked out of school is going to fuck them over more. Hell, why would someone care if they get kicked out if they really don't care about school in the first place?
Instead of the "Just say no" education, we should be pushing the "Just say know" education. Know what the risks are, know what it does to you, know what to do if you have a problem or a friend has a problem, so basically, not be ignorant, know kids are going to do drugs, and help them understand what it can do to them. Scaring them out of school won't help, and it sure as hell won't help to scare them about drugs. Kids should know what the risks of meth are, they should know that you don't go driving on hallucinogens, make sure that they know about serotonin syndrome, instead of simply saying "Dont do drugs because we said so. They are bad. Don't do them." Education is a major major key when it comes to the "war on drugs." Anyways, I would of still done drugs in high school even if I was tested. And despite using drugs, I was involved in Dancesafe, marching band, concert band, percussion ensemble, poetry readings, poetry club, did work for plays, JROTC, and community service events for JROTC. So, to say the least, I was very involved in school, still did drugs, still went to parties.... I didnt fuck up my life. And without my experiences with drugs I wouldn't be where I am now. So I don't regret it at all. And if I got caught in high school my parents should of dealt with it, not my school, as they have no business in my personal life unless its between the hours of 7:30 and 3 on school days, when I'm in school, and my after school activities. That's it. They had no jurisdiction outside of those times. |

I can't even understand society anymore. This, just like every other single new law, or news article, pisses all over the constitution. This just goes to show how much of a police state our society has become. The fact that everyone isn't outraged is scary. Oh, the government is spying in on our piss now, I guess it's not that bad, I mean I already do it at work anyways. And then tomorrow they're going to say that we need to destroy yet another individual right, oh but it's not that big of a deal. Day by day our rights are being eroded, and the government continues to expand it's power, wealth, and dominance over more and more areas of our lives.
But we got them damn terrorists, mentally ill drug addicts, or economic crash that we need to protect ourselves from, so god forbid the government doesn't control our own lives for us. |

I mainly blame the media for all of this bullshit, government will react towards the amount of media coverage there is. I hope this country wises up and moves towards a libertarian state. |
