![]() SIK Promotions welcome you to the 'Mission 08' Great Barrier Island New Years Experience. "Who's been to Great Barrier Island?" Or should I ask, "Who hasn't been to Great Barrier Island and had the time of their life?" We have spent many a great New Years on Great Barrier Island and now we invite you to join us. Come and experience the great time that everyone we’ve taken in the past has loved. Witness one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand, a magical place that stands only 2.5 hours away via ferry ride from downtown Auckland. Picture a tropical island, imagine your favourite blends of breaks, electro, drum n bass, techno, hard house and heart pounding hi NRG hard dance. These genres will be played over 16 hours at an outdoor venue, on grass, amongst sand dunes just 20 metres from the high tide mark on Kaitoke Beach. Think of a massive sound rig, top of the line visuals, incredible lasers, smoke machines and strobe lights that rival the best in Auckland. There will be a genre of music to suit everyone all night long. The rigs will be fired up at 8pm on New Years Eve and will crank right through til midday on the 1st. In the SIK area we have Butcher Boy (Vicous Circle, Tidy Trax, Tinrib Digital) all the way from the UK, supported by the best Auckland Hard-dance DJs with Lewellyn, RP, Heretic, Furious, Manik, Mr Geez, Wylie C, Flinch, Remedy, Ash and Just Juce doing what they do best until well after the sun comes up. The venue is: Horse Shoe Paddock, Kaitoke Estuary at Claris. It’s between Kaitoke and Medlands Beaches, two of the most spectacular beaches on the island. On Google Earth its co-ordinates are: 36degrees 15'24.69"S 175degrees 29'09.18"E There are many great back-packers, lodges and camping sites(which need to be booked ahead) in the area and buses run all over the island. You would get dropped off at the downtown ferry terminal, jump on the ferry, drink at the bar on the boat for 2.5 hours, get off the boat and onto a bus which would take you straight to the campsite. Or... Park at either Auckland or North Shore Airports, jump on a Great Barrier Airlines plane and 25 minutes later you'll be on the island then jump on a bus and get dropped off at the campground. How to Get there: SeaLink Ferry: (Car and passenger ferry) 45 Jellicoe Street, Freemans Bay, opposite the Auckland FishMarket PO BOX 90-543, AMC, Auckland Phone: (09) 300 5900 or (0800) SEALINK (0800732546) Email: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] .
