hello everyone, I'm new in this thread....in fact I'm new to Texas....I've been here for a little over 2 months now. I just flew out of the Kansas rave scene (lol, Kansas has a rave scene? yea it does) and I'm looking for new crews to run with.

before you thumb out out of this thread (thinking oh whatever this guy is just should figure it out himself) please take two minutes of your time and help me out with something, as I keep hitting dead ends. I know not many people see these boards but someone is sure to help with something! It would be greatly appreciated and I would love you with raver hugs 4evar!

so here's my game plan


1. Currently Live in Katy but plan on moving to Houston for school and to check out the city life in the Fall

2. Meet allot of cool cats that like to party, have a good time, keep it real, play it safe and other "three worded" statements"

So heres what I need, this information archive would also help new ravers to the Houston area:

people to know:
-are there any other connection networks that are online or forums that would be to my interests? particularly the Houston area?
-any other groups, organizations or production crews note worthy? any famous or infamous people I should know know/meet?
- anyone here do movie nights, get together or weekly hang outs? I loved doing these things with my raver friends back in Kansas
-does anyone know about a burning man group in Texas? they're usually raver savvy

Clubs:
-What clubs are worth checking out in Houston? I've heard engine room, pink monkey and numbers are pretty rockin.
-anyone here go to conventions, arcades? Anything else worth checking out, malls, Galleria? Anything?
-any upcoming events worth going to? Possibly with a group of people?

Music:
-What style of music does Houston love? Someone told me Trance was big in Dallas and I know the genre is regional.
- how is the music scene in Houston? I know it was crazy in Lawrence (back in Kansas) and seeing local bands was the thing, everyone thrived off of music. Any places nearby worth checking out?

Most Importantly I hope to meet people, I would honestly love to meet with a clique and get introduced to whatever scene Houston has to offer.

Wow thats a lot. Ill attemp to answer.

A good way to network in da rave scene is through plurspace.com. And the good rave production teams here are as follows:

1. Scooby Doo Crew or SDC - holds alot of nice warehouse parties
2. KAOS Entertainment - works with the meridian night club and others.

And a note worthy Houston DJ crew is Purrin Lion, which spins Dub-step, which is becoming really popular here along with DnB. But houston is really famous for its house music primarily. Some famous H-Town house Dj's are Dj Red and Josh Dupont. And whoever told you the pink monkey, numbers are "rockin" are prolly not really involved in the rave scene much. The real good places to rave in houston are at warehouses that SDC throws parties at and sometimes the meridian whenever theyre having a rave-esque event. Also, the monthly dub-step party called Gritsy at the grab bar is worth checking out. But, if ya wanna be plugged in on whats goin on for raves in houston, just add SDC and Kaos Ent. as your friends on myspace and check for their flyers.

Oh and there are burners in Texas. Like our biggest annual one, Burning Flipsidew, which happens in Austin. and there are small goa/psy events that are burner-esque that occur periodically in texas..you just have to check ravelinks for those typically.

anyways i graduated early and now i go to the university of houston. sucks that you lost all your contacts. i totalled my car and lost my phone within like the same 3 month span and now i can barely find anything to get or do.

i think there might be a mini rave thing going on this weekend at my friends house. you can come and meet people if you wish, its in houston

hey kaleidoscopian, sorry for the late post.


I met up with hawk via real life and got to check out the silo and some other great venues. I would love to hit it up with more ravers sometime. I'm currently looking for that social network of awesome people that i left behind in Kansas. Also I'm usually down somewhere in Houston most of the time, I'll have to slap hands with you the next time I'm down there
