Tips First time clubbing!

So... I want to go to my first rave/dance/club, basically anything. I don't have anyone that would want to go with me. Where can I go and do i just walk in? Then what? I'm 17 almost 18. Think I'll enjoy this?

I suppose I need some rave/club etc. etiquette

Wow, you are in high school and you know absolutely NO ONE who would be into this huh? No one who would like to listen to energetic music, look at beautiful girls, get dressed up in ninja outfits, dance with lights flying all about you in every direction (more often than not defy the very laws of physics themselves - just the general ones though, the “tecknoical” ones still apply), and all in a place that is drama and violence free. ??? Yeah, I could see how you might not know anyone like that if you were a cop looking to make new connections.

Then again, there is a serious lack of people who understand the scene. That coupled with my over willingness to trust strangers and the fact I don't do illegal things so I'm fairly safe to test the waters on new people . . . Hello and welcome to a brave new world of weirdness.

So you want to go to a party huh? The bad news: Dallas (Texas in general actually) doesn’t really have parties. Got to get to the coast or cultural hubs of musical expression for those. The Good News: while rare, much like a rabbit with 1 leg, they do happen.

So for starters, go to dance – don’t end up the cheesy guy in the corner doing the white man bop. (drink in one hand, a cigarette in the other, bopping your head with a “I’M WAY TO SHY FOR MY OWN GOOD” smile on your face) Go there to meet people, go there to absorb the weirdness and become one with it, go there to blah blah blah. Simply put, go there for a reason. And you know what, you already have that part – b/c if you like the music, you’ll LOVE the live music.

People go by themselves all the time, so you won’t be the only person – but as for my personal preference: find someone. I promise if you show people the opening scene of Venture Brothers Season two (episode 1 obviously), someone will have enough sense to say WOA, this might just be fun. Other visual effects that might give people an idea of what to expect – Blade one club scene (minus the blood part unless Jesus or Red are throwing the party / DJing), Scooter’s I LIKE IT LOUD video, or any other scene of an underground party where people are just going nuts to the music. (try Utube).

What to wear: if your worried about what to wear, your not ready. Be yourself b/c no matter how hard you try to look strange, there WILL be someone who looks stranger. Trust me, I’ve been trying to be the weirdest guy at the party for years and have only accomplished said goal on but a handful of occasions.

Finally, if you really really can’t find anyone to go with you, think about it and decide if you have the grapes to go it alone. If you do, see ya on the dance floor. If not, be prepared to spend the rest of your life as the follower that you are when you go to do things your friends like when you’d rather be doing something you’d like to try out. I think that kinda sums it up. Anyone else have anything to say about it? (i.e. be prepared for whatever Jesus or Red have to say b/c their motivation words can be ever so slightly darker at times.)

don't be shy. if you make an ass of yourself, chances are you'll never see those people again, and if you do, you'll know how to behave yourself next time. haha.

Anywho tips?

If any strange guy in a hoodie (sometimes with big black rimmed sunglass and/or a hat or bandanna over his face) offers you pills or anything, TAKE IT!

And why you scared to go alone? I go alone to parties all the time, fuck most of the time I prefer it that way. Just this past Saturday, went alone. The weekend before that, went alone. Had a fucking blast both times.
