Hi Florida people. I was there earlier this year and it was gorgeous. You guys survived hurricanes many times before, it's just so hard for me to imagine it when a big storm hits. I'll be back at the next Winter Music Conference. Duck and stay dry =) Kara |

yup, we're right in the middle, I've been here for 10 years and many many hurricanes - but this time (and my 1st) I'm skipping town. Squish and I are heading north to Birmingham then East to Murrysborrow to visit some friends. I rented a Prius (electric car) from Work (Toyota)... and it only has 140 miles on it. Brand new car... so we should be fine.. if you wouldn't mind.. keep us in your prayers... we may not have internet access where we are going, so you wont hear from us in a while, but we will try to keep people updated... now i have to go board up the windows and pack... Home our home is still here when we get back. |

I IMed Squish this morning to tell her happy birthday (probably waking her up at the same time) and I think it was forwarded to her cell phone. She responded so they're okay at least

The hurricane wasn't nearly as bad as they predicted, but much of the panhandle is out of power. They said some customers may be out for as long as three weeks. I hope their home is alright, those winds on the news were crazy strong. The good thing was the storm weakened as soon as it hit land, a little before even. And then all the dry air got into the swirl, that helped too, they said. I laughed at the idiot reporters that were there last night, how much do you think they got paid??

we're back.. and yes it wasn't as bad as predicited, our house is still here, and no damage around, power did go out, but they got it back up by the time we got here.. After Ivan it took about a week and a half..
everyone has been giving us crap, you ran away, you wussies.. and it wasn't even worth it.. .um, i beg to differ. I rented a Prius (hybrid car) with only 130 miles on it, added over 1000 on to it, but went Birmingham, AL to visit friends, then to nashville, tn where i went to my first Imax theater (Batman Begins) - i still have an erection... we partied, when to the opery hotel, words can't describe - and straight up had a good vacation. We got home this morning around 4am after an 11 hour drive... so now i need to remove the wood off all the windows and finish reading the 100s of new posts, so yes, im definately going to look like a post whore today, trying to catch up. thats for those who worried and wrote - it was good to know people care about you . |

Screw the haters.... you played it safe... remind them that if it had gone any differently, they may not have been here. I have learned here it is better to not dismiss warnings.... if you do, you may not come home. |
