i luv raves...and the music...i have alot of "rave" music on my computer that various friends have burned for me..but i still feel so clueless...any help would be nice. some Electronic Music for Dummies kinda advice would be appreciated...thanks! ![]() |

trance is what, 135ish up to 145ish? Hardstyle 150+? Nu-NRG nothing less than 155? Hard Core/Happy Hardcore/Grindcore, etc like 180 +? something like that...I'm not exactly sure but that's ballpark. in addition, common synths/sounds/composition pattern of tracks can be found thru out many tracks of their respective genres. for example, the warp bros...they always seem to have the same synth sounds thru out their tracks yet they manage to somehow continually kick ass track after track and not manage to sound redundant. how ITF they do it, i dunno. Quote:
if you have no clue about this...get "bitTorrent" or "bitTornado" once you learn your ass from a hole in the ground graduate up to uTorrent or Azureus. NEVER USE "BIT-SPIRIT", "BIT-LORD" OR "BIT-COMET". these three are truly the axis of evil as far as bit clients go and should you choose to lower yourself below that of the common child molester and use such villanous swine programing you will be violating the good will and trust of all 'seeders' everywhere. and may your dick fall off. for keeping up to date with the more mainstream side of edm:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and i know eventually someone will mention ishkur's name so i'll say this now don't take his guide seriously, just think of it as a sampler and ignore all commentary and genre labelling |

Why, Iskur's Guide of course!
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] But I think some of it is kinda obvious... happy, hard beat = happy hardcore, rapid hard rhythms, probably drum and bass, melodic, puts you in a "Trance" = trance... etc... but just check out the site. I still go by the classic "If It's house, it has a *boom-tiss* sound, if it's trance a *doom* sound, if it's breakbeat a *boom tiss boo boo tiss* Happy Hardcore a *bootit bootit bootit* sound etc etc
Just listen, I tell the genres usually by the difference of the beat. |

sorry for laggin on this reply ...
bitComet, along with the other ones, are basically leeching clients. this issue may have been fixed but I'm not 100% sure as I only use Azereus. but per wikipedia and many other online torrent communities... Quote:
I remember hearing about other features regarding these 'leech' programs, they allow the user to establish multiple connections to a single user. this tricks this user's client into think he's sharing the file with multiple members when in reality he's connecting to only one. but if you're getting your torrents from a 'dump site' (Priate Bay, sumo torrent, etc) then anyone can use whatever they want ultimately. no one else can't tell you not to use them, but if you connect to someone like me, I ban ya. oh yeah, RIP demonoid. |

i decided to kill that ultra-long post & just say this:
a good thing to do if you're curious is to listen to as much EDM as possible & don't pidgeonhole yourself to one style. second, just go to Wikipedia.com & enter each sub-genre seperately. there are pretty good explanations on Wikipedia that will help. for me though, the best thing to do is just listen & learn.
