Rent? Never heard of anybody renting equiptment to learn how to do something. Just buy some record tables and later on buy the CD players if you want (tho they're more expensive).
Certain things you have to devote time into, so renting it might not be the best way. Ever rent a movie and then not watch it and have to return it before it becomes late? Or just imagine you rented your equipment and then didn't really have time to use it and had to return it. |

learn from the tools of the trade first...I don't care what ANYONE says but if you don't start on Vinyl...you don't have the roots. It's easy to put a cd into a cddj and have a little screen tell you what BPM you're at..learn the basics on a cheap set of direct drive turntables...then once you get that art down and can respect it..move to cds. GRANTED you can do a lot of shit with cddjs but IMO you're not respecting your roots and getting the basics from which all the founders of EDM started....vinyl!

orrrr.....
....if you know anybody with tables....ask them if you could just fucke around on them. but i would recommend you buy your own needles so you don't fuck theirs up. or just go on ravelinks and see if anybody will let you use their gear. its a shot. |

Here's what I'm starting out on.
2-Numark TTX's Numark DMX-06 (as long as you don't scratch records, the crossfader will hold up) Shure M44G Needles, with whatever basic headshell. Coffin Case by Road Ready Cases (with wheels yay!) The Jury is still out on headphones. I like ones that fold and have a detachable cord. Any suggestions? Basically in a nutshell I'm getting my setup for $1500 out the door. For which I figured $1800, so I now I'm budgeted for cartridge cases and about 10 records. If anybody has decent credit (which if you know us, that means mom or dad), then perhaps they can put it on a guitar center credit card and you make the payments. I'm sure you can rent the equipment from somebody, but isn't it just better to buy, when say in a year or less you'd already had paid for it if you were renting? |
