![]() ![]() AQUA AUDIO & THE WHISKEY PRESENT: SUNDAY NOVEMBER11TH - REMEMBRANCE DAY LONG WEEKEND DJ COLETTE (OM Records, Los Angeles, "PUSH" album release tour) + STARKILLERS (aka Nick Terranova, Las Vegas, The Dirty Sound Tour) ------ DJ COLETTE In 1993 she began collaborating with Chicago house mainstay Lego, adding vocals to some of his mixes and occasionally to his live sets; while a student at DePaul University, Marino next attempted singing over karaoke tracks, improvising lyrics and melodies and recording the end result. Her dorm room experiments caught the attention of local producers including Mazi, and DJ Sneak and Roy Davis Jr., both of whom sampled her work on their own records beginning with Shroom Network's 1996 effort Moments of Epiphany. From DJ Sneak, Marino also bought her first turntables, and the following year she formed the SuperJane crew with fellow distaffs DJ Dayhota and DJ Heather; she ultimately began singing over her own live mixing, and in 2000 issued her first DJ Colette disc, In the Sun. In the fall of 2000 she relocated to Los Angeles, signing to the Nettwerk label and issuing the mix CD Our Day the following summer. Along with Paul Van Dyk and Felix da Housecat, Colette was chosen to be the face and sound of Motorolla's 2003 worldwide advertising campaign. She returned to the CD bins in 2005 with Hypnotized on the OM label, which sent airways across the vast dance community. She now returns in 2007 with "PUSH", another solo venture getting great buzz and review. ------ STARKILLERS aka Nick Terranova Nick Terranova's signature blend of catchy vocals, booming bass lines and genre-defying range are always in full effect on tour or at his “Dirty Sound” residencies at Late Night Empire in Las Vegas, Crobar Chicago, Lizard Lounge in Dallas, On Broadway in San Diego, Bleu in Detroit, and Bliss in San Antonio. That dirty vocal track your girlfriend keeps singing in the shower? It’s a Nick Terranova production. The Las Vegas native is best known as the man behind the MASSIVE hit Discoteka. The very first track released under his Starkillers alias lived at the top of the Billboard Dance and Beatport sales charts, named an “Essential Selection” on Pete Tong’s BBC1 radio show, nominated for best underground track at the IDMAs, and supported by almost every major DJ out there. But the track’s success simply encouraged the hard working producer to get his ass back into the studio. Terranova has an impressive list of musical accomplishments: he runs the record label Terratraxx that he started in 2002, has produced a ton of original productions and done an equally impressive number of high profile remixes. Done both in his own name and under pseudonyms such as Starkillers, Aftertouch, Terranova, Hi_Lo, and Nick Touch, they include remixes of iiO’s “Rapture,” Stevie Nick’s “Stand Back,” Paul Oakenfold’s “Sex & Money”, Holmes & Ives’ “8 Letters,” and DJ Dan’s “Rock to the Rhythm.” Nick’s collaborative partnership with close friend (and neighbor) Austin Leeds has been equally successful. The Terranova & Austin Leeds duo have produced a string of hits together, including “Shake Me,” “Rock Me,” “For the Pills,” “Only You,” “Dirty Sound” (Stealth Records), and “Acid Disco” as well remixes of Dario Nunez’s “My World” (Stereo Productions) and Dave Spoon’s “This Machine” (Toolroom Records). They are a dream team on the road as well, headlining numerous “Starkillers vs. Austin Leeds” and “Terranova & Austin Leeds” nights around the country. Expect big things in the future for Nick Terranova. He kicks off his U.S. tour, appropriately named the Dirty Sound Tour in August, and will be taking the “Dirty Sound” global with stops lined up in South America, Europe, Asia, Canada, and Australia. ------ Join Aqua Audio as we are proud to welcome these 2 headliners into one night!
