MAS 2008 - Life Forms - Sci City Records Read a review by The Beyonder of Electro Alliance about Dona-Li's latest release: Said to be unfortunately the last chapter of the brilliant electro series provided by the Spanish label, The Guilty Compilation V was to conclude spectacularly. And the 12’’ takes up the challenge, no doubt! Delivering his second contribution to Dona-Li, Kosmozo starts the A-side with “The Plan”, a superb piece of funk made of relaxing melodies, bubbling tonalities and vocoder actions. No stranger either to the Catalonia structure, Dorothys Magic’s Bag (Kahvi Collective, Candy Mind Records) maintains the pressure, giving with “8 Bits 2 Bits 4 Bits” a fantastic tribute to Detroit electro, full of bleepy sounds and old school lyrics a la Dopplereffekt. The flipside goes further, introducing two original duos: first of all, US J-Break (Cyberian Knights, Millenium Breaks) and half of ATF band Lethal Agent (Zero One Music, Bass Frequency Productions) deliver on “Drop It” a brutal Miami Bass anthem based upon industrial strings and harsh rhythm. At last, Dona-Li’s mastermind Dark Vektor (Drivecom, Omniam, Djax up Beats), associated with long time partner Morphogenetic (Fundamental Bass Intelligence) serves a terrific “Music Of The Spheres”, made of dark layers, futuristic atmospheres and forward thinking vocals (written by Stjarna). Alernating dancefloor goodies and home listening jewels, this eclectic compilation outclasses the previous ones. Perfect and essential.
