DNB came before breaks had to be broken down into generes.
kind of like Str8 beat was broken into House, trance, tech and so on. If its good Listen to it and play it -Fuck labels! esp. for you djs -10 years ago most djs played eveything. Now most artist create and play |

OK 5 Fav BREAKBEAT artist
1.Tipper [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] The King of Electro Breaks!!! 2. Son Of The Electric Ghost/SOTEG/ Disciple Grin/ Bil Bless/ Skeetaz - It doesnt matter what name he uses its all sick! 3.The Projectiles - Tech Funk from France [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 4. Plump DJ's 5.Napt - everytrack is a monster! Ok so to clarify, Breaks have been around forever in some fashion or another. If its not a straight 4 on the floor beat, then its a break beat! It tends to be the tempo that distinguishes what genre it falls into. Like Hip Hop, Breaks, Jungle, Drum and Bass. The difference in Jungle and Drum n Bass is mostly the snare lines. Jungle has real slippery cascading snare lines. Drum n Bass doesnt. At least thats what I think about it... |

crystal method
chemical brothers hybrid dj icey dj trashy jungle came before "drum and bass", but its like one genre to me now, and drum and bass is usually 160-180 beats per minute, where as breaks are slower. both drum and bass and breakbeat have the "broken" beat rather than a constant 4/4 beat. drum and bass and breaks offer way more complex beats which is why i prefer it over house or trance, and respect it so much. i probly sound confusing. |
