The Freestylers - personally my fav breakbeat artists. cowrote songs with pendulum such as fasten your seatbelt and Painkiller. entire albums arnt wonderful but many many REALLY FUCKING GOOD songs thatll make you wanna dance. they recently opened for prodigy at Rokout festival in SoCal and completly tore the place apart. everyone in the house was dancing/bouncing. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] those should get you started. another one to check out is DJ Dan. he fuses house and breaks pretty fucking well. that guy |

Hey.. I'm from HK... I used to like all kinds of rave music but now to dance to it's strictly breakbeats!! I also went to uni in England, so I was lucky enough to listen to proper live breaks in Bristol... the place where it all started.
Anyways I'm not too familiar with US breakbeat artists... but lately i've got these playing on my iPod, so here's a few tracks: - Out of Space (audio bullys remix) - the Prodigy - Stanton Warriors really good... they did a great remix of Gorillaz, Feel Good Inc., two boys from Bristol. - Hybrid (sometimes breaks mixed in with house) - Audio Bully's remixes are really good - shot you down, for example. - Roni Size, who was one of the earlier ones, is always good. Although leans towards dnb. Killer Tofu - will try Autobots, never heard of them. If you like that Jamaican influence, Roni Size is your man, he had reggae influences to start him off, and he mixes it up with jungle and dnb. I guess not strictly beaks, but I still think he's really good. Oh and for something a bit more chilled out and easy listening... Damian Marley. He's like funked up reggae... got that edgy raw beat. If you like breakbeats you'll probably like him. |
