what do you think about emo as a style?

I consider myself emo. And anyone who makes fun of emo kids are stupid and need to get a life. I laugh and smile but I like emo just because i like the fashion, attitude, music and all that. And most emo kids are some of the most cutest, sweetest people you will meet. I don't look all the way emo cause I haven't had too much money to buy the clothes that I want but I like it. And YES....I do wear eyeliner NO I'm not a slut and YES....I do have bangs that somewhat cover my eyes. I don't follow a trend if I don't like it and I do what I want. I just identify with that style and like it. And NOT ALL EMO KIDS CUT SO STOP BEING A CLOSE MINDED ASSHOLE AND EMO KIDS ARE NOT ALWAYS DEPRESSED! Emotional? Sometimes...Sad...yeah who doesn't get sad...Are we always sad NO...And we complain that people don't understand us cause people like you give us shit about it and have bad misconceptions about us....and if you really wanna get technical emo is a type of music that started in the 70's with a band called Rites Of Spring and went on from there if you wanna get TECHNICAL....yes people changed it into a fashion and sub-culture but I like it. People like you guys and our parents give us shit about it so who wouldn't complain and be a little sad.....my mom does it to me almost on a daily basis. And I'm 19!So quit being an asshole and if you don't like it don't look at it, be it, associate with it, listen to it, etc.....and some emo kids are very confident. I thought "ravers" were supposed to be open and accept people for who they are....what the fuck is this? I joined this site cause I wanted to go to a rave and like what I learned about raves and the open-minded people in the rave community and the music.....I didn't come on here to discover assholes bashing emo kids just cause YOU'RE the idiot who had low self-esteem. Grow up! And emo kids don't need to grow up....I'm old enough and I can complain if I want to....don't listen. PLUR...People!.....Or so I thought!

hey. I have to give it to the girl. There was like 1 or 2 other people that demonstrated plur. Not alot of open accepting minds here today are there? That's ok, probably just caught em on a bad day. its just like everyother Rock Subgenre.

there doing it cause they still feel as if they're misunderstood, its a new fashion,most of the girls are liking the boys like that nowadays, and the music is hated by many so they root for the underdog just to get the attention weather it be good bad or neutral.

its just like punk in the 70's and 80's
and jazz/swing/blues in what ever decade they were in.

its music nonetheless, i particularly dont care for it. I like'd (and still do) Punk more than any other rock genre.

the only thing i dont care for is the attitudes alot of genre's and sub genre's tend to carry. which is usually, "oh that music sux, what im listening to is better. but im still missunderstood and hate how people talk about my music when they clearly have never taken time to appreceate it."

its the same story with alot of genre's i wont say all, but i've yet to be introduced to a genre that actually accepts everything without having too many issues with it (except Hippies).

Yay for fisrt post. Well on the subject, I really don't care too much for the "emo" style. I have nothing against it, but it's just not for me. My stance is probably more than likely influence based as the emos here on Oahu are really just a majority of fat people that dress emo just so that they fit somewhere other than just the "fat" category. Maybe once in a great while, will I come across one (maybe two) people that actually do justice to the style. I really just hate how people's laziness (i.e. the whole fat issue) just basically makes them resort to the emo style. It's not fair to those that actually make emo look decent. But in a way, I guess it sort of goes hand in hand with the whole emo style. I mean, if I looked as big as an interstate bus, then I'd be pretty sad. Lol.

i like some emo music like Paramore and Aiden and some screamo. Most of the emo kids in kansas are kinda stuck up and bitchy about who they hang out with.
