making it up yourself isn't really fun because then there's no story or point to the name. As far as I know, rave names are about a part of you that people can see, maybe something that you know about yourself, maybe something you didn't realize other people knew, or just something you like. You can get named by a good friend who has watched you rave for a long time, someone who you just met who you feel connected too, or an e-tard who just KNOWS what your name should be. Old friends, new friends, it can be your first rave or you can be named after 10 years of partying. Haha you can get a million suggestions for a name before the right one comes along or the first name you ever get can just feel perfect. It's ok to say no to a name somebody names you and if you rave for a long time then there are definitely people who go through different phases and don't relate to their rave name anymore, just like people switch nicknames in "normal" world.

It's ok to rave without a name, your friend should just wait until someone comes up with a name that he loves, he'll like it better than something he comes up with himself.

I've been to a few raves now and don't really have a rave name. I guess no situations really came up that really led to one. Well, I go by my last name pretty often, and when people call you Rager, they're bound to think it's not your real name.

well, i got my rave name the first time i rolled; i was crawling around in my friends backyard and one of my friends decided to name me TARANTULA; yeahhh i know its weird..but then my other friend KITTYFLIP named me VIXXEN, i like that one, so it stuck:] and at EDC when people would ask me what was my rave name i told em both..and lot of people liked VIXXEN better than TARANTULA

Also dance/music based. The Tarantella as a form of music could often be very fast and stuff. Also, I just happened to remember it as one of the numbers I had to play in the pit for Peter Pan. That was fun. It was really fast, though.

I usually go by Brenton since it's unique and my actual name. (Damn creative parents)
Friends I rave with call me TubeSteak since I concluded while toasted and spinning at a barn party that my stage name should be "DJ TubeSteak", but i'd sound gay. It stuck anyway. Haha
