This member is the original thread starter. minimal light shows: can YOU help me?

EDC this year was my first rave and i got to try my hand at using light sticks a lil and i feel the music in my body when i give it a try but im still not entirely sure how to do it. I need some advice on what to do, what to use, and how to do it. im really interested in doing it i just have no idea what to start with or anything like that. Any tips, practice techniques, equipment, or crazy moves you can explain to me in order to get better at it would be insanely appreciated. i just want everyone to have a great time and i think if i got better at giving light shows i think i would be on a pretty damn good one. lol.
please help me out here guys! Nocturnal is soon and i want to be able to at least give a decent show by then.
PLUR!

Have the kids at raves who are giving the light shows show you what's up in person! I can bet you anything that many will be happy to do so, and I could only imagine it's the best way to learn.

Hey dude start with the figure eight. Get that down and the techniques will come.

For equipment check out liquidemotions.com .They have everything from sticks to LED to the Rav'n 2. Follow this thing underneath for 10% off

Hope I helped. PLUR & remember just practice.

Find your own style, follow the music, avoid the figure 8 like the plague.

pick up two pens (seriously it doesnt matter that much its just the muscle memory which you need to learn) make a figure 8. once you can do that smooth reverse it. once you can do that never do a figure 8 again. thats like 90% of peoples shows that i see and its gets really old and boring after like 2 seconds.

dont jam 20 lights into your hands. learn on glow sticks or a single pair of photons/inovas, because instead of having a giant messy show you can learn technique. if you must use gloves atleast try and invent some new techniques rather then just having a seizure with your hands.

watch people. any style, glowsticks, poi, conjure, what ever. they will give you ideas, hell steal their moves and make them better. learn liquid. practice anytime you can. glowsticking.com is good to build a foundation but dont base your entire show off tosses and traces.

you will eventually have your own style after doing it for a while. what it all comes down to is muscle memory of moves, and the techniques you use. DO NOT THINK YOU NEED TO BE FAST TO BE GOOD. i really cant stress that enough lol.
