what are fluffies?
they are very easy to make.
you're going to measure about where you want them to start on your leg (above the knee? mid calf? take a measuring tape and measure it.)
take your measurement and add 2", or however many inches it takes to get it up over the fattest part of your calf, if you don't have strechy material. mine is 14"
the second measurement will be from where you want the top of your fluffies to be to the floor. lets pretend that it's 15 inches or so. add 1 1/2" or so for a hem. you don't have to hem it, but it's a good idea.
your third measurement is how wide you want the flare to be. lets say it's 20".
so your pattern is going to look like this
_____14"___________
/---------------------\
/----------------------\
/--------^--------------\
/---------I--------------- \
/----------I--------------- \
/----------15----------------\
/-----------I------------------\
/------------I------------------\
/------------V-------------------\

*PLEASE DON'T CUT YOUR PATTERN TO THESE EXACT MEASUREMENTS. TAKE YOUR OWN MEASUREMENTS* i can't tell you how many people haven't read properly, dropped $36 on fur and then cut everything too small cause they used my measurements.
when in doubt, cut things bigger than you think you need.
fold in half, hot dog style, and then sew along the longest part of the fur to make a tube. hem the widest part, this is the bottom of your fluffie.
take some non fluffy fabric, some color matching cotton, or something. i like to use a uv-reactive lycra, so smooth on my legs.
cut it 3" wide, by 14", or however big your first measurement was. iron it in half (hot dog style again), and then cut some elastic (i reccomend the 1" wide elastic, holds up better. )that is 2 inches smaller than your calf measurement. THIS IS IMPORTANT, it is how they stay up. some fur is very heavy, you wouldn't want it all to fall down when you dance, would you?
sew the ends of the elastic so it forms a circle. take your strip you cut earlier (which, folded in half should be 1.5" by 14" or whatever) and sew those ends so it makes a circle as well. place your elastic inside the fabric, so it makes sort of a sandwich. sew the ends closed, so you now have a circular tube with elastic inside it. make sure not to catch the elastic in the stiching, this will inhibit it's strech. now sew the tube to the top of the fluffies.
the end!!
pm me if you have questions.
EDIT my text pattern wouldn't work.but its fixed now.
fluffies are sexy if the right girl wears em
Damn It!! My Pattern Still Didn't Come Out Right!!
Hey Molly, I have a question for you about these since it seems like you know what you talking about. What kind of shoes look the best or are most comfortable to wear with? I've never worn them before but I'm getting them for ultra next month and was just wondering if you knew!
well, in my opinion, platform boots look the best with fluffies, but are probably the least comfy, (LOL) however, vans or skate shoes look okay with these most times, as do flat soled boots. sneakers, or flats look dumb with fluffies. i would just wear the normal shoes you wear when you dance, and try the fluffies on over them, see how it looks.
Fluffies are cool as hell. Problem is, I'm a guy. But I've got great legs!
One of my male friends wear fluffies with the matching handcuffs once in a while (no, he's not gay). He manages to wear pants the same colour than his fluffies and wears them over his pants, then he doesn't look (too) gay. A guy gotta be hella confident to wear these, even if the rave scene is pretty open in general, because people tend to give him strange looks or assume this guy is homo, which is bad. I personally think they look great on someone who wears them well, no matter what the gender of this person is.
I have a pair of black/red capri's with a strait black crew neck shirt I thought I could pair a pair of black or black/red fluffies with, was thinking the same things, but smaller, for the wrists as well, come out just over the palms but not the fingers. I'm pretty damned confident though. There's one guy I've seen at the last 2 raves that looks fantastic, i think he's gay, because he looks hotter than i'd say about 80% of chicks that i've encountered at raves, and that's saying something. I've never seen him get any crap from anyone, though I guess it takes a keen eye to realize he's even a guy, especially as good as he looks. He does the makeup, hair, everything. Next time I see him I want to ask him to pose for a picture!
Back on topic, yeah, I wouldn't just strap on a pair of fluffies and make my way out there, I'd totally make sure I had the outfit to match. I received some positive input from a female friend, so I'm gonna check into it, see if I can do some patern matching.
