˙·٠•●♥ GATAKA – Phonokol / Noga records

Matan Kadosh, better known to dance floors across the globe as Gataka, is a psychedelic producer from Afula in the northern part of Israel. Matan started playing psytrance at the tender age of 15 and has an immense amount of experience under his belt.
He is also part of the enormously popular psytrance project Sesto Sento (along with Aviram Saharai and Itai Spector, both from Afula also).
Along with other psytrance artists like Panick, Dynamic, Melicia, and Nissimyani, Gataka forms Phonokol Record's excellent artist team.

His first album 'Drop The Mask' came out in 2003 and was greeted with a great deal of enthusiasm. It was a showcase of Matan's part groovy, part funky, somewhat twisted, but altogether psytrancy style. Tracks like 'Boomby Boom' and 'Let It Beat' dance floors across most continents.

In September 2004 Gataka's second album 'Home Made Madness' was released. Tracks like 'Tribeadelic' (With Liquid Head) and 'Disko Jockey' were instant hits and have frequently featured on various compilations since then. The album also featured Gataka's own mix of 'Dive To Drive', a favourite track by Sesto Sento.

Home Made Madness sealed Matan's growing reputation as a psytrance force to be reckoned with.

Continuing his trend of releasing an album a year, Matan came firing from all cylinders in October 2005 with 'In Trance We Trust', his best at the time. The album contains mainly full on morning psytrance but there is awesome variations in each track offering something fresh as the ablum progressed.
'Weird 60s' with its live guitar and drums also showcases some of Gataka’s rock influences. Other tracks like 'Deeper Level' (With Aquatica) and 'The Mind Twister' will get any psytrance lovers toes tapping.
Many of these tracks have also featured in other compilations since then.

In June 2004 Matan also brought out a compiled mix titled 'The Next Generation' which features top of the line psytrance architects.

The futuristic sound and beautiful melodies continued in 2007 when 'Bless The Mess'. Again mainly full on morning psytrance sound that represents the most modern psytrance architecture from Israel.

Over the years Gataka has collaborated with various artists like Aquatica, Apocalipse, Rinkadink, Liquid Head, Amfibia, Patrick, and Visual Paradox to name a few. He is loved for the variation he brings in his tracks along with his trademark baselines which go from groovy to funky to dark to full on.

The feel and beat of his music establishes Gataka where he is today: at the top, with the best.

Since Sesto Sento's first album he has played in almost every corner of the world - Australia, Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Brasil, Chile, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Spain, Thailand, USA & The Ukraine and of course almost in every place in his homeland - Israel.

A long time in coming, Beartrap is proud to present this Celestial Being for the first time in South Africa.

˙·٠•●♥ DEVIANT SPECIES – Ambivalent records, UK

Deviant Species is Santos De Castro, born in the Basque Country and a Celestial Being from the darker side of psy. Initially a drummer, he took permanent residence in London in the 90’s where he joined industrial band “Pig” playing as the opening band for Nine Inch Nails in their legendary “Downward the Spiral Tour”.
Deviant Species started in 1997 with former member Paul Wright (aka NRS). The first release “Blind Summit” attracted much attention and secured DS a place in the South Africa 2000 Millennium Festival where it was billed along the main names in the Psy Trance scene at the time.

After 4 successful EP releases, the internationally acclaimed first album “Hatch” came out. One year later Deviant Species founded Ambivalent Records with the release of its second album “The Quest for Balojax” (2001) which established the act as one of the luminaries of the genre. In 2004 the much anticipated 3rd album “In the Hands of The Randomizer” came out which received rave reviews all over the world. More DS tracks featured in the Ambivalent Rec compilation “Further Ambivalent Tendencies” released in 2006.

Still maintaining that signature Deviant Signature sound, Santos has been currently working on his long awaited 4th solo album, as well as the debut album from Squid Inc, featuring another musical force in the scene, Ady Connor (aka Scorb), and even occasionally joining forces with both NRS and Scorb under the project name “Spindle Servo Failure”.
