Why are they one of the best? Because they put so much detail and
culture into every release they ever made, and basically represented what Psytrance is all about. Hard, Twisty, Flowing, Dark, Light, everything can be found in their history of releases at some point. They also fuse a LOT of elements of Rock'n'Roll music into some of their songs. Also known as "Buttrock Goa Trance", lol.
They gained notoriety from the start when every song on their first self-titled album was named after a drug. Trippers liked this. But the songs were deeper than just some drug-gimmick to get popular. They were awesome from the start.
The 2nd CD "Heroes" goes deeper immediately than the first and has a lot of technical/scientific aspects to it all over the place. "Acid For Nothing" is one of the best overall songs they ever produced.
The 3rd CD "The Time Machine" is my favorite because each song was molded to represent a different culture through time. They have India, Greece, the Mayans, Egypt, Stonehedge Druids, etc. It seriously kicks ass and shows that 1200 Mics was always putting pure thought into their work instead of just releasing regular songs at intervals.
The 4th CD is awesome too and it came out in 2007. It has less of a "theme" to it but is still banging hard/dark psytrance. So worth it. I was told they broke up recently and that makes me sad. Oh well, download here:
