I'm not going to start WW3 here either but I would like to ask a simple question or two for the atheists.
How did you learn not to steal? How did you know it was wrong to kill or do any of these other things we claim as bad? Probably from your parents and so on right? No one knows something is wrong unless otherwise told, so how did a bunch of "primitive" beings consider one day it was wrong to do all these things? Think about it. |

Religion...or rather any time there are two conflicting religions, it typically breeds hate.
This is why I refuse to identify myself. I believe in the Christian God, Bible and Jesus, but not because of an ego driven agenda, tradition, or because I'm better than you. In short, I think religion should be a personalized experience - free from me telling you what to believe. My views thoughts and ideas are certainly open to anyone that cares to ask about them, but I'm not going to tell you I'm right. All I ask is you not tell me all the reasons I'm wrong unless you'd like to have a discussion about it. I love to learn things about other religions, but I don't think my views will ever be swayed. In response to a post about Satanism, it actually has very little to do with Satan or magiks or 666 (616 if anything) and it most certainly does NOT promote hatred of God. And that's a stereotype that almost all of my Satanist friends fall prey to. Satanism is really the practice of self-indulgence. I know vaguely who Ann Raynd is, but I've never read the book you(forgot the name >_>) cited. Does it match up with the description above? Last edited by Propogamik; 26.6.2009 at 2:19 pm.. Even in civilizations that have never been influenced by the Bible, morals still exist. No civilization has EVER lasted without morals. The fact that morals seem to be inherent only further proves the existence of A God, even if it's not the one i believe in...for me anyway.

I dont believe in god or any other power that is perceives or is perceived to be higher than us.
I dont take an aggressive stance against religion (i.e. try to convince people thier god is false, etc) because thats just silly. Faith and hope have united groups of humans in the face of great adversity (religion was a key force that helped defeat communism, religion helped people organize and empower each other during ww2 against the Germans.) However i feel that in todays world of technology and communications, religion becomes less and less prevalent as humans have embraced technology to unite against a common foe - which is what religion has always done before .. a social bond. Personally I cannot believe in an order that says 'be a good person and you will lead a good life, etc.' I am a realist, and i know that prayer and hope will not bring rains to an area affected by drought. Religion's excuse that when something bad happens to somebody that is good as 'thats just gods' will' is so flawed. I cant understand how people live in a fantasy where years of dedication to religion seem to pay off for the hard work they do and then give credit to faith instead of themselves. I only hope that religion effects less and less of our political code in the future. |
