Skyscape History
The first skyscape was held on August 21st, 2004 in an undisclosed Maine location, miles and miles away from human residency. Found by a local resident, the location is pure amazement. An open floor in the center of Maine's forest with lake front views. A moonlit summer night with the reflection of the stars and moon off the lake, and an open sky arena filled with lights and music, surrounded by mountains.
The day started off rather weary. It rained, poured, thundered and everything that would make a night go bad. Reguardless, my team and I at the time (Drive It Like Ya Stole It Productions) pushed forward with the idea in mind that the rain would quit, and it would definatly be a skylit night. Well, it rained and rained, and I stood in the field on my cell phone talking to Amber from DILYSI in Brunswick Maine stating that it looked to be clearing up.
About 3 hours later, the clouds parted and we got to work. We set up two stages, one smaller then the main stage, and scrounged around for everything we could to get this working right. By 9pm, we had barley made it! The DJs started showing up, and people were flooding my phone so much that the batteries went dead.
About 30 or 40 people showed, some got lost and never found their way, and some thought the rain tookover. But reguardless, the sky was bright that night, and we had an amazing display throughout. Kate and Gardner showed up with a pong and fireeating show that was so amazing, with fire breathing madness and an amazing set list. Each DJ performed for everyone as no one left early that night.
Miles away from home, help and humanity, we all lived together for those hours, shared stories, ideas, and friendship. It was truley amazing!
Skyscape was created for the individual who believes only in the positivity that is spread through our common music. Our scene. Created by Mel Parker (aka Identity) of the New England Rave Union, Skyscape was made to share talent of all types, both locally and from out of state, but with the colloboration of local crews (families) to make it a joint "hands together" event. Filled with positivity and creativity, Skyscape will grow to be one of Maines biggest and best kept outdoor EDM freedom events.
Completly endulged in mother nature for the entire weekend. Do things you never expected to do this coming year, from cliff jumping into Maines clearest but frigid cold waters, to hiking across maines landscapes and mountains. Dance in Maines wilderness, bathe in Maine's waters, and baste under Maine's skies! Be part of a truley rare but amazing summer adventure. Be prepaired for Skyscape 2006!
