Hello,

My name is DJ Selrahc, I've been in NE for about 4 months now and I haven't seen any type of scene whatsoever here (other than the what I saw in downtown Omaha). I checked out a couple DnB shows that Cymbalism put on and I thought they were pretty good but I think there should be more activity in the scene and I'm willing to help whoever is commited to bringing somewhat of a scene back to this place. I have been djing for about ten years and I don't intend on stopping anytime soon. I don't know very many people in this area so I'm trying to create my network and get things moving around here. Omaha is too big not to have more underground music...Please reply if you are serious about djing, promotion, etc...

I'm down for sure...The scene here kind of died out before I really even knew it existed...I'll do what I can to help...we need to get more people in on this...I'll try and find as many others as I can...How can we spread the word apart from the internet? any ideas

i'm new to omaha too, i've been dj'ing for 10 years now too. i'd like to help out if possible. i used to dj professionally in sacramento, ca until i went to school in farg who's rave scene has all but died (started to pick up a little before i left). I'm not sure if omaha is ready for hardcore or freeform considering there is no scene, but you never know.

OK, I put my journalism degree to work,
here's the deal. the reason there is no rave scene in Omaha is this. Some years ago [5+] there was a massive downtown and some kid decided it would be fun to climb up into the rafters (or catwalk?) of the venue and he fell, landed on some chick and split her head open. paramedics came and tried to get 2000 or so tripping people to evacuate... right. Cops came, tear gas, riot... Needless to say, the fags in blue are probably gonna shut down anything that remotely looks like a rave short of some gay bar/club one-night-takeover. While a club night with real underground djs can be fun, it's not a rave.

Thanks for the info, but so what, that's it then? we just give up because it might get shut down?
The threat of cops doesn't bother me, if your down (anyone) I'm down. There's always other places too, I bet there's venues in Lincoln and Fremont. Does anyone know of any?

drock, i'm not saying "just give up", just saying that trying to throw a all-nighter in downtown omaha might be a bad idea... an outdoor or like you said something in lincoln are not bad ideas at all.
